    3. Jeffrey, thanks for your response in re: the location of Pleasant Lake on the Pedee. You have just made a lady in Houston very happy. She has been trying for a long time to place this grant of James Abercromby in hopes that it sheds some light on her Abercrombys of Anson Co., N.C. This particular James Abercromby was baptised in Clackmanshire, Scotland in 1708, came to S.C. as a young man, became S.C. Attorney General and received numerous land grants on the Pedee and Waccamaw. He went back to Scotland and died there in 1775 at his Brucefield Estate. If I can help you on the lower end of the Pedee, drop me a line. Deryl

    3. Hi Deryl, Pleasant Lake is now known as Roger's Lake, and is just across the county line in Marlboro County, near the river. There is a survey on record here(Marlboro) naming the lake. The survey was for three different deeds given for 500 acres each, sold by Henry Clark (of Old Marion). The derivation refers to an 1736 land grant. The lake is off Arcadia (Plantation)road, which is a dirt road on the Dillon side of SC Hwy 34; Arcadia is paved on the Bennettsville side. Arcadia is marked with 911 signs. This lake is referred to in a plat certified 23 Oct 1736 for James Abercrombie. The 980 ac. tract is bordered by Joseph Yeats' land, Mr. Thomson's land and the Pedee (on the SW). There is a lady in Houston who is desperately trying to locate this land and I believe it is too far upriver for my expertise. The property is reported to be in Prince Frederick's parish. I have a suspicion that this property would be near the upper limits of Prince Frederick parish if not beyond near the Cheraws. 2. I am a descendant of William and Sarah Middleton through their son, Hodges Middleton and his wife Priscilla (White?). Are there any records in Marion Co. that would tell me where William and Sarah are buried and did Sarah marry again? Also, I would like to document Hodges and Priscilla's marriage record. Hodges son, Stephen G. Middleton was born in SC in 1814 and is my gg grandfather. Stephen moved with Hodges and one sibling that I know of, Judith, to AL after 1825. Stephen and Judith married Cook siblings in AL. I would appreciate any information.

    2. Hello All Please excuse the multiple posting. I have learned that info related to my Family Line is available in the following publication --------- South Carolina Historical and Genealogical Society Magazine, Volume 18 and Page 117. I believe this probably refers to the Old Prince Frederick Episcopal Church located in Georgetown County that was active in the 1700's. If someone has the info on Page 117, I would greatly appreciate if they would email the entire page to me. Many thanks in advance. Ernest T. Cribb Cantonment, Fl 1-850-478-6650 ecribb1@aol.com

A survey was made of this cemetery a few years ago and is posted on the Dillon Genweb page so you might look there for HULON ancestors. I have suspected that Christopher may have been married to a HULON, but have no information to substantiate. Bill
