    3. The following is a labor of love created by Joanne Harley, forwarded here with her permission. In reading "THE DIARIES OF EVAN PUGH", Joanne decided to extract all the marriage data and share it with her fellow researchers. A little background provided by Joanne: "Rev. Evan Pugh started his ministry at the Welsh Neck Church back in 1765, but the church declined in membership and he was dismissed. He then received a call to the Cashaway Church some twenty miles distant from the Welsh Neck, and continued there until he retired sometime in the 1790's. Pugh was seldom consistent in his spelling of proper names. I typed them as he spelled them. There were months when his only notes on marriages were simply, "married a couple", which were scattered throughout his diaries. There were other notations he made and only mentioned the groom's name." Cheers, Victoria ================================================= I have always found marriages to be one of the hardest things to find in my research. Consequently, as I was reading the Pugh diary, I decided to make notes of some of the marriages he mentions by name. So many have shared with me, and I wanted to reciprocate in some fashion. Thank you. Joanne Harley <harleyclan@coastalnet.com> Early Marriages Gleaned from the pages of Rev. Pugh started out as a minister at the Welsh Neck Baptist Church, but was dismissed and received a call to the church at Cashway by Feb 1767. Church was later called Mt. Pleasant . 1. [SCMARION-L] Re: R.R. ROGERS - Horn Connection?
    2. I sent this to the list yesterday, but it didn't go through. Trying again. Thanks, Jane. Looks like this R. R. Rogers was perhaps a little old for Mary Jane Horn, but not by a whole lot, she born circa 1846. I still wonder if she was a second wife. Do you have any information about when his Huggins wife died? Also of interest, is that Mary Jane Horn's sister, Caroline Horn Roberts, had three children who married into the Rogers family. Foster Roberts married Ella Rogers, and Magnolia "Nolie" Roberts married Clyde Rogers. Both of these spouses were said by Bert Roberts to have been children of a Sam Rogers. Roger R. Roberts and Caroline Horn Roberts' third child who married into the Rogers family was Estelle Roberts who married Sam Rogers, who Mr. Bert Roberts thought was also a son of Sam Rogers (Senior). Children of Sam and Estelle Roberts Rogers were French Rogers, Colonel C. Rogers (1907-1965, the only one of these folks I have dates on), Eileen Rogers and Leola Rogers. Bert seemed not too certain of the parents of these Rogers spouses, but thought they were all brothers and sister, and their father's name was Sam. I suspect now that these were probably children of Samuel Rogers, son of R.R. Rogers and his Huggins wife. My question remains, were they Mary Jane Horn's step-children? Or did Mary Jane die between 1870-1880, and is all this just a bunch of coincidence? I'd love to hear from anyone else who might have more detail on any of these families. Thanks again, Jane. Jo Church Dickerson Jane wrote: This is the information I have so far: Robert Rogers born abt 1831 in Marion, SC. He married Amanda Huggins, she was born about 1823. Children: Albert Rogers Ella Rogers married Emory Huggins Lemuel Rogers Samuel Rogers Susan Rogers married Kit Rogers Michael Rogers Amanda Rogers Ford Rogers George S. Rogers 1862/1938 married Jeanette Goodyear 1870/1933 Hope this is a starting point for you :-) Jane

In the cemetery at Kentyre Presbyterian Church there is a grave marked McEachern Mother Jennie C. 1847-1933 Father John C. 1837-1917 I believe Jennie is Jennie Carmichael daughter of John "Hatter John" Carmichael and that John C. is the son of Neill and Manila McCormick McEachern. 3. While I am thinking about it, I want to tell you about a book entitled THE ROAD TO GUILFORD COURTHOUSE, by John Buchanan, published by John Wiley & Sons. Hard copies are sold out, but paper-backs are now out. It is all about the Revolution in the Carolinas. It is strictly history, but a well-told story, with endnotes, annotated bibliography, and index. I ordered mine from Amazon. Mildred
