    1. [SCMARION-L] JOHN CRAWFORD
    2. Dear List,       I have copied the pertinent facts from this abstract below concerning John Crawford from Ayrshire, SCOT, 1600-76.  For those of you who have him as a ancestor and don't have this source, it may be one other fact to add to your family tree.  In addition, I am going to post the will of John Crawford , Craven Co, SC, dated 1756.  Hopefully with your help, we can work down to MAHALALEEL CRAWFORD, or from MAHALALEEL up to John Crawford, with the facts we're gathering.  The will of John CRAWFORD follows this abstract.       I will be looking for any and all comments or facts about Mahalaleel CRAWFORD, or John's descendants.  Thanks to this list, and our "cracker-jack" (that's GOOD!!) researchers, I am a lot closer to finding Mahalaleel to, or ruling out his connection from, this line of CRAWFORD ancestors, from whom many on this list also share this lineage.       Happy hunting to us all, Winkie CRAWFORD R << John CRAWFORD, 1600-76, cadet of Kilbirnie Crawfords; arrived Jamestown, VA 1643; settled in James City Co; killed during Bacon's Rebellion.       Source:  Immigrant Ancestors ; a list of 2,500 Immigrants to America before 1750; ed. by Frederick Adams Virkus; abstracted from Vol. VII Compendium to American Genealogy. Charlestown - Probate Records Wills v. 9-10, 1760-1767, LDS Family History Center.       John Crawford's will was typed, and I will try and make this copy as nearly perfect as possible although I can't be responsible for any minor typos.  However, I have deviated from the double-spaced document to single spacing, except in those instances when it was necessary to insert letters in an otherwise blank line.  The best source, of course, is the original or microfilmed copy.         Personally, I believe this is a 2nd copy of John Crawford's will as published in vol. 6, p. 7, which was sent to me by someone else.  As it wasn't a primary source, I   was unable to send to the list. But this is only my opinion.    I ordered v. 9-10, hoping to discover John Crawford, Jr's will, since it was in a later volume but turned out differently.         Victoria, feel free to add this will to the Marion Wedsite if you wish.] Page 74                         WILL OF                     JOHN CRAWFORD           IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN.   I John Crawford of Craven County in the Province of South Carolina being of perfect Sense and Memory, Thanks be to Almighty God; Do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following:  FIRST and princi- pally I recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it, trusting through the merits of Christ, to receive full pardon for all my Sins, and my Body to be buried decently by the Directions of my Executors hereafter named, And what Estate it hath pleased God to bestow on Me, after my just Debts and Funer- al Charges are paid I give as followeth.
