Helen: I think our really seriously thinking about names will help us. I like the name Kada, that is pretty. Wiley is a bit unusual, but guess I always think about Wiley Post when I hear that name. Frances is close to Francine.... I have been called Frances quite a bit, and I always make the correction for I, personally, like Francine better. I knew a girl once named Francile. My aunt gave me the name Francine for a friend of hers. My Mom read a book about an indian princess named Zenoma. I have also known a Zenobia. My grandchildren have names of today mostly. I guess the most unusual is Kelsey Francine. Then there is Haley Michele, Aaron Thomas, Jeffery Bernard (Bernard is demanded from his fathers side..... the oldest male has to have the name, and if the oldest is a girl it has to be Bernadette.... I'm glad they had a boy. My other two grandsons have very plain names, Brian Thomas and Erik Harold. The Thomas' are for my husband and their other grandpaws, the Harold for a great uncle. You know, the study of names could be very interesting. Wonder why you can't reach Victoria! Maybe she is busy moving out of the Washington area! I wouldn't blame her if she did! She said she really had a hard time concentrating for several days after all the plane hit the Pentagon. And the eerie quietness of no planes overhead was scary. That seemed strange here for we were in the outer pattern for landing at DFW and all of a sudden it was so quiet and has stayed pretty much that way. I think they made them move their landing pattern for they go further south now. Have a good day! Trying to help fill in those Price family blanks... Another Hayes/Price connection: Ithamer Hayes (1811-1884) of Hayestown, between Lake View and Dillon, was married first to Mary Jane Price, according to the death certificate of one of his sons. Ithamer's second wife was Ann Brewer, and his third wife and widow was Ava Jane Brewer, sister of Ann, and fondly remembered in the community as "Granny Avy Jane." Both Ann and Ava Jane were daughters of my ancestor, Asa Brewer and his wife, Elizabeth Hayes. (Please note that this Elizabeth Hayes' parents are unknown, but she was NOT the daughter of Benjamin Hayes.) >From Death Certificate of Turrentine Hayes: born about 1840, died 29 April 1924 in Dillon County Father: Ithamer Hays Mother: Mary Jane Price Informant: Frank Hayes The informant, Frank Hayes, was a half brother of Turrentine Hayes. Frank was a son of Ithamer and his third wife, Ava Jane Brewer. I know from interviews with descendants of Frank that he spoke often of his family relations, and was quite knowledgable about them. There is no reason to question Frank's knowledge of the name of his father's first wife - his brother's mother. I have no further information on Mary Jane Price. She apparently died between about 1840 when Turrentine "Uncle Tine" was born, and 1850, when the census shows Ithamer married to his 2nd wife, Ann Brewer, mother of Joel B. Hayes who was born in 1851. It's likely that some of the children born between 1840-1850 were Mary Jane's, and some were Ann's, but impossible to determine where the "cut-off" line was. Children of Ithamer Hayes: Children by 1st wife Mary Jane Price: 1) Celia Emma/Emily Hayes born c1838 2) Morgan C. Turrentine "Uncle Tine" Hayes (c1840-1924) never wed Children by either 1st or 2nd wife: 3) Jeanette/Jane Ann Hayes b c1841 4) Virginia Ann Hayes b c1843 5) Nancy Ann Hayes b c1844, mar Theophilus Huggins, son of Henry Huggins & unk Elvington 6) Ithamer J. "Ithey / Dock" Hayes Jr (c1847-1827) d in Robeson Co mar Meroza Britt bur County Home Cem in Robeson Chidren by Ann Brewer: 7) Joel B. Hayes (1851-1932) bur Hayes Cem, between Lake View & Nichols mar Anna Missouri Hill (Possibly Ann Brewer was mother of some of those listed above - one deed strongly indicates Ann might have been mother of Nancy and of Ithamer Jr.) Children by Ava Jane Brewer (sister of Ann Brewer): 8) George H. Franklin "Frank" Hayes (1852-1929) bur Piney Grove Baptist Church mar Louisianna M. Rogers 9) Levi McKibben Hayes (1855-1931) bur Hayestown Cem no stone mar Malinda "Linnie" Scott 10) Samuel J. "Sam" Hayes b c1859 bur Hayestown Cem no stone mar 1/Matilda "Tilly" Stephens mar 2/Bertha Elvington [Sources: Information on earliest daughters based solely on census records and school records. Information on others based on census; extensive interviews with descendants, especially Vida Caroline Cook, granddaughter of Joel B. Hayes; and Dora Bullock Bryant, granddaughter of Frank Hayes. Dora personally remembered Uncle Tine and Granny Ava Jane - in fact Dora identified a photograph of Ava Jane Brewer Hayes for me; tombstones; Bible records; death certificates; Marion Co deeds; a typewritten manuscript by the late SC Senator Roger Scott about "Uncle Tine and Granny Ava Jane." Have many more details on this family (but not on Mary Jane Price) if anyone is interested.] If I had to guess, I would suppose that Mary Jane Price Hayes was connected to the Enos Price who is mentioned in deeds among the Hayestown Hayes families. I have no idea who Enos Price might have been. Family members have said that all three of Ithamer Hayes' wives lie beside him at Hayestown Cemetery, but only Ithamer has a stone. His home was on the little dirt road that ran beside the cemetery, several hundred yards behind the cemetery. I've been told that Dr. Temple purchased this place after Frank Hayes died - he told someone he wanted it just because he was enamored of the building, it having been built with no nails, just pegs and dovetails. It served for awhile as a tenant house, but has long since fallen down, only the chimney remaining. Jo

Does anyone know anything about my ancestors: Thomas Boatwright, b. 1832, married Louisa Wiggins 31 May 1857 in Marion. They were married by Rev. C. D. Rowell according to the Marion Star. Could this be Methodist? I notice that Rowell is a popular name in Marion County. The couple is shown in the Georgetown, 1860, census as having one child, Lavenia Boatwright. Thomas Boatwright was killed during the Civil War at Trevillion Station. I have found Louise Boatwright on a Dec. 1862 Soldiers Relief Fund list. Three children: Lavinia, Julia and Thomas, nephew of Micajah Wiggins. They were heirs of Daniel Wiggins. I found a probate court record appointing Thomas Wiggins guardian of the three children. J. B. Wall is also one of heirs. Court appoints appraisers JW Moyd, Dan'l McKethen, Randolph Smith, WW Mishan and OH Shaw as appraisers, 24 Feb 1875. Land situated on North Santee adjoining lands of J. W. Moyd and James Bourne, TR Sessions and estate of Jayroe. Land laid out for Micajah Wiggins part of a tract of land granted to Lea-- (?) 24 Nov 1764, surveyed 7 Sep 1812. Any suggestions? Louisa, Louise, Lucy (?) Wiggins/Boatwright was my g-grandmother. Please help me find her. Thanks, Fran Could Lucy be a nickname for Louisa? On the 1850 census,

Another land mark gone---Mr.James Porter died at his residence; nov.4,1878, in the 72nd year of his age, he was one of the most inoffensive men I ever knew, always at his post of duty when his country called. Served in the Indian war in Florida, he joined the Methodist church South South in 1858,in which he lived until his death. A few hours before he breathed his last he told his family and friends all was well, and "no cloud was between him and his love of God." He leaves a large family and one sister, who is a devoted Christian, with a large train of relatives and friends to morn their loss, which is his eternal gain.(E.J.M.) Source: William E. Miller Bible...the above obit received via e-mail to me from transcriber. I do not know what was meant by the "Methodist Church South South" reference. I'll know more when I get an actual copy of this Bible record. JJohnson
