    3. Oh goody, here we go again. A word of caution, this post ONLY please: A new version of the ever-popular BadTrans virus hit the stands on the 24th and since I have been pelted by this thing since day one, sooner or later y'all will be too. It's spreading like wildfire since it uses some HTML features of email. BE EXTREMELY WARY OF ANY ATTACHMENTS TO EMAILS. DO NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS sent to you by folks with an email address that begins with <_ no matter who it is. These things come with an ordinary name but the From: shows an address which begins with an underscore. Example Mary Lou Good <_marylou@isp.com> The attachment is about 40k and all that I've seen have that double extension thing as the file name; example: file.MP3.scr If you receive an email with this list in the subject, please do NOT write to the list and give the person's name and email address, write to me. I will unsub them and let them know they have the virus/worm. I will then wait until they clean their computer before letting them back on the list. (Sorry.) Here's what Symantec/Norton has to say about this one: <http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.badtrans.b@mm.html> McAfee and other AV software vendors will likely have similar info and provide free updates for your virus definition files (.DAT) which you can download. In addition to updating your anti-virus software, I highly recommend that you turn OFF the HTML feature on your email and set it for TEXT ONLY. Victoria

    1. [SCMARION-L] CRAWFORDS & Equity Roll #315
    2. Dear List, Sometime previously there was information on the list about Robeson Co, NC. It was in close proximity to Marion or Craven Co SC. Mahalaleel CRAWFORD shows one son, John, b 1832 in NC, whereas the older children Willis and Ann, were born in SC, and following John were: William b 1834, James b abt 1840, and Eliza all born in AL. Mary MACE Crawford had died bef 1837 because Mahalaleel is shown as marrying Martha Wilson in Monroe Co, AL, in 1837. Of course, it may be could be a mistake on the 1850 FL census but have found that indeed Willis and Ann were born in SC and their mother was Mary Mace. Have further discovered in Equity Record # 315 John H. Moody and wife vs. Carey Edwards and wife et al. Bill for Partition and Account, Filed 14 Nov. 1854. Orator and oratrix John A. Moody and wife Elizabeth show that Matthew Mace, late of Marion Dist. on _________1853 died intestate never having married ... and further discovered listing of Mary Crawford [ evidently a deceased sister of] and wife of M. Crawford, viz: Willis Crawford, Ann wife of _____-Jameson, John and William Crawford ...(rec'd a part of estate of Matthew MACE) Willis Crawford, John Crawford and William Crawford reside without the starte. Other substantiating evidence from an Equity Record #315 (1854), which I ordered show these children of dec'd Mary Mace and M Crawford inheriting 1 slave to each, as well as Ervin Moody & wife Mary receiving 1 slave. There seems to be other monies owed them possibly from notes, but haven't been able to figure this out as it is a very, very long record and hard to decipher.. Willis, Ann Jameson, Ervin Moody & wife Mary, John, and William. [Note: This indicates to me that M. Crawford & Mary Mace Crawford had an older daughter, Mary who married an Ervin Moody in SC or AL(who wasn't named in census) John & William are the other 2 children of this marriage, with John listed as having been born in NC and Wm b AL. My question to the list is, "Do you think that after Mahalaleel Crawford sold his land in SC, 1831, if he & family might have sojourned with family in Robeson, or other nearby Co in NC, before leaving for AL? And with whom could they have stayed? Possibly Mahalaleel went ahead to AL to get a place ready for his family, not taking them as Mary (MACE, wife) was unable to travel at the time, being so close to delivery date of their child. Any help with any of these connections or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Winkie CRAWFORD
