    3. Hi everyone, I recently stumbled across an obituary for one W.S. Price, printed in the Troy Messenger Weekly (Troy, AL) on September 21, 1910: ***** PIONEER MINISTER IS DEAD Rev. W.S. Price, one of the pioneer ministers of this section died early Thursday morning at Little Oak, breathing his last about 3 A. M. He had been sick for some time. He was a prominent member of the Masonic fraternity. IN MEMORIAM Rev. W. S. Price, who died at Little Oak September 15, 1910 was born in Marion, S.C. on Oct. 16, 1836. Had he lived a month and a day longer he would have been 74 years old. At the age of 2 years he was left an orphan by the death of his father. His early education was meagre, but by the influence of his mother he gained much and later he attended regularly Sunday school and chruch and he was converted and joined the church at an early age. He was married to Miss Lucinda Perritt of Marion, S.C. on December 13, 1855. From this union was born eleven children, all of whom lived to be grown. At the time of his death he had 67 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren making a total of 96. he now has 89 living descendents. He began to preach early after his marriage and for more than 50 years he stood for all that was noble and good. he made a splendid record in his 4 years of service in the War Between the States. He never took an active part in politics except to vote, unless a question of temperance was involved. He always gave his voice in opposition to whiskey traffic. He was not prejudiced against any denomination, but was distinctly a Methodist, so much that all of his children and grandchildren are of the same denomination. He has done much for his family and a great deal for others. He has performed marriage ceremonies, buried the dead and preached for more than 50 years without renumeration, except in a few instances where he supplied the places of itenerant preachers. He preached at Little Oak (besides the revival services) once a month for 43 years. He was constantly in his place at Sunday school and church and always in every good work. Truly a great and good man has gone to his reward. A Friend. ****** I looked at the 1850 census, and the only Price I could find in Marion County that fits is William Price, aged 14. He is enumerated with Hepsy Price, age 50; Mary, age 25; and Edward, age 17. Next door to this Price family is the Neeham Perritt family. Needham and his wife, Sarah, have a 13 year old daughter, Lucinda. I beleive that this Sarah Perritt is the same that is mentioned in Moses Smith's will. Ancestry's listing of Alabama death certificates shows one for W S S Price, Pike County. d. 15 Sep 1910. Volume 23, Certificate 386, Role 1. Does anyone have easy access to the Alabama death certificate films that could look up this for us? If his father is listed, it might help us untangle some of these murky Price connections. If they circulate, I would sure like to read Rambele in the Pee Dee. Does anyone on the list own or know someone who owns "Exum, Finklea, ..."? At the present time our Librarian is trying to get the index photocopied re any CRAWFORDs. Anyone wanta give me a short synopsis? Thanks, Winkie
