Mullins — Carl Livingston Truluck, Sr. died Friday, January 27, 2006, at Marion County Medical Center. He was born in Olanta, S.C., the son of Rebecca and Furman Truluck. After serving in the United States Marine Corp, Mr. Truluck studied law at the University of South Carolina and was employed as a manager for Sears & Roebuck Company in Florence, S.C. Mr. Truluck moved to Mullins, S.C. in 1949, where he owned the Western Auto Store for almost 40 years and was an active business and civic leader. He served on the Mullins City Council, the Board of Directors for the Mullins Hospital and as Deacon in the Mullins First Baptist Church. He was past president of both the Florence and Pee Dee Shrine Clubs. Mr. Truluck is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Gibson Truluck, a daughter, Dr. Janet Elizabeth Truluck of Athens,Ga., a son and daughter-in-law, Carl Livingston Truluck, Jr. and Deborah Beale Truluck of Columbia, S.C., a sister Mrs. Mildred Truluck OBrien of Florence, S.C., a niece, Mrs. Terri (Bobby) Watford of Conway, S.C. and a friend valued as a son, Buddy Harrelson of Mullins. Graveside Services will be held Sunday, January 29, at 1:30 p.m. at Mt Hope Cemetery, 100 Cherokee Road, Florence, S.C. 29501. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, S.C. 29605-4277. Meares Funeral Home of Mullins is honored to serve the family of Mr. Truluck.

NICHOLS | William ''Billy'' Gary Ford Jr., age 66, of the Duford Community, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Ford was born Oct. 24, 1939 in Marion County, S.C., a son of Mrs. Louvinia Collins Ford and the late William Gary Ford Sr. He married the former Laura McCraw on Jan. 26, 1963 and was a member of the Nichols Baptist Church. Mr. Ford retired from Dupont after 32 years of service and had served for four years in the National Guard. He was a loving husband, father, and ''Papa Bill'' and enjoyed spending time with his six grandchildren, especially riding around with them on the golf cart. Survivors in addition to his mother, Louvinia Collins Ford of Duford include his wife of 43 years, Laura McCraw Ford of the home; one son, Gary Mark Ford and his wife, Michelle, of Duford; one daughter, Susan Ford Graham and her husband, Shawn, of Loris; one sister, Carolyn Ford Atkins and her husband, Mickey, of Whiteville, N.C.; and his six grandchildren, Stacey Ford, David Williamson, Storm Ford, Summer Ford, Lauren Graham, and Haylee Graham. The family received friends on Friday night at Ward Funeral Home in Loris. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006 at 2 p.m. from the Riverside Cemetery in Nichols. The Rev. NICHOLS — Mr. Stephen Douglas McCormick, 81, husband of Margie Johnson McCormick, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence after an illness. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Mullins Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jason Brewer and the Rev. George Ganey officiating. Burial will follow in Devotion Gardens Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Mr. McCormick was born March 23, 1924, in Mullins, a son of the late Lawrence and Sarah McLain McCormick. He was a retired sales representative for a food brokerage firm. Mr. McCormick was former mayor of the City of Nichols. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in World War II. Mr. McCormick was a Master Mason and a member of Nichols Masonic Lodge No. 83. He was a member of Nichols American Legion Post No. 82. Mr. McCormick was a lifetime member of Mullins Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and elder and was a former Sunday school teacher and superintendent. Surviving Mr. McCormick in addition to his wife of 58 years and of the home are a daughter, Deborah (Tim) Hammond of Florence; two sons, Douglas (Charlotte) McCormick of Florence and Bill (Christy) McCormick of Charlotte, N.C.; his grandchildren, Alan (Donna) McCormick, Scott Hammond, Bob (Abby) Hammond, Christie McCormick, Cory McCormick, Jason (Christy) McCormick and Christopher Gepfert; three great-grandchildren, Amber, Mason and Colin McCormick; a brother, Malcolm (Kathryn) McCormick of Nichols; two sisters, Louise Geiger of Charleston and Frances (Marvin) Harrelson of Columbia; a sister-in-law, Ruby Britt of Marion; a brother-in-law, Robert (Margaret) Johnson of Mullins; and several nieces and nephews. FORK, S.C. | Gordon R. ''Rock'' McLellan, 71, husband of Jackie Huggins McLellan, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2006 at Marion County Medical Center after an extended illness. Mr. McLellan was born July 15, 1934, in Hamer, S.C., a son of the late Henslee Clifford McLellan and the late Bessie Thompson McLellan. Mr. McLellan retired from Farmers Home Administration after 30 years of service and also retired as a building inspector for Marion County. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1956 to 1960. Mr. McLellan graduated from Dillon High School and was a 1963 graduate of Clemson University. He was an active member of IPTAY and was a member of various civic organizations. Mr. McLellan was a member of Mullins Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and elder and was a past Sunday School Superintendent.
