Mrs. Davis was born in Marion, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Welden Rowell and Evelyn Kenson-Rowell. She attended the Marion County Public Schools, and was a member of the St. Paul Baptist Church in Gresham, SC. Mrs. Davis was married to the late Mr. Marion J. Davis, Sr. To this union six children were born:Sgt. Marion J. Davis, Jr. (Dee), Susie B. Crawford (William) Mr. Mack L. Davis (Renee), Mr. Joseph Davis (Mary), all of Marion, SC, and Sgt. Kinlaw L. Davis (Guture) of Austin Texas. She was preceded in death by her son Ezell Davis. Mrs. Davis retired from Nursing and enjoyed a number of activities. She enjoyed Southern Style Cooking, and Baking, and her favorite past time was making Grandmas Lye Soap. She leaves to cherish her fond and loving memory, her children, along with sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of relatives friends and love ones. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, March 11, 2006, at 3:00 PM, in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Marion, SC, with Dr. Henry McGill, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery, St. Mary Community, Marion, SC. Jackson &McGill Funeral services of Marion in charge of arrangements.

    2. MYRTLE BEACH | Sgt. Jack W. Kennington, USAF Retired, 70, died Monday, Mar. 6, 2006 at Myrtle Beach Manor. Born in Mullins, he was a son of the late Jason B. ''Doc'' and Flossie I. Hinson Kennington. Jack retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1973. He graduated Conway High School, the University of South Carolina and Webster University, where he received a master's degree. Survivors include his sister, Irene Bell and her husband, Col. Robert S.; three nephews, Col. Robert M. Bell and wife, Anne, of Elgin, S.C., Stephen F. Bell of Vienna, Va. and Jeffrey W. Bell of Myrtle Beach. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Mar. 9 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home, Myrtle Beach. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Southeastern Memorial Gardens, North Myrtle Beach.     2. MULLINS — Mrs. Jean Pittman “City Twin” Graves, age 83, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, in Marion County Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Sally Hardwick Pittman. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.C. Graves Jr. and two sisters, Katherine P. Game Daniel and Elizabeth P. Walker. She was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church, a member of McCormick-Perritt Circle and Wesley Sunday School Class. Mrs. Graves is survived by one son, O.C. “Buddy” Graves III and his wife, Dea, of Mullins and one daughter, Jane G. Ward and her husband, Herb, of Mullins. Also, one sister, Jane P. “Country Twin” Daniel of Nichols; four grandchildren, Denton and Marti Graves, Emmy Shaw and Mary Catherine Ward; two special friends, Mary Duncan and Mary Dudley. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Meares Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 9, in Devotion Gardens in Mullins. Memorials may be made to Macedonia United Methodist Church, 402 N. Main, Mullins, SC 29574, Epworth Children’s Home, P.O. Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250-0466 or a charity of one’s choice. Born in Darlington, he was a son of Larry Dwayne Flowers of Darlington and Harriet Kaminsky Flowers of Pelion, formerly of Mullins. Mr. Flowers was an active member of Gapway Baptist Church. He was worked at Beneteau, Inc. and was a member of the National Guard. Mr. Flowers was also a coach of T-ball and soccer for the Marion Recreation Center. Surviving are his parents; his wife, Cambar Thomas Flowers of the home; a son, Hunter Flowers of Marion; three daughters, McKenna Flowers, Allie Zeman and Gracie Zeman, all of Marion; two brothers, Ryan Flowers of Irmo and Tyler Flowers of North Carolina; a sister, Angel Driggers Nosal of Mullins; paternal grandparents, Evelene Tyner of Darlington and the late Dossie Flowers and maternal grandmother, the late Ima Herrington; and special friends, Brandon, Bridget, Landon, Bryson and Brooke Porter.     2. FLORENCE | Mr. Henry Earl Pridgen, 70, husband of Doris Ammons Pridgen, died Saturday, Mar. 4, 2006 at his residence after an illness. Mr. Pridgen was born July 25, 1935 in Marion County, a son of the late H.V. and Bessie Edwards Pridgen. He retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Co. as a service technician, after 35 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Reserve veteran. Mr. Pridgen was a former drag racer and a member of D.R.A.F. (Drag Racers Association of Florence). He was an avid NASCAR fan and a devoted Earnhardt fan. He was a member of several country music bands. Mr. Pridgen was a graduate of Rains High School. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and the Florence Moose Lodge. Mr. Pridgen was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Pridgen in addition to his wife of the home are a son, Ashley Pridgen and his wife, Wanda, of Darlington; a grandson, Erin Pridgen; a granddaughter, Allison Anderson; one great-grandchild; his brothers and sister, Larry Pridgen and his wife, Dianne G., Diane Pridgen Harrelson, and Micky Pridgen, all of Mullins; and his niece and nephews, David Pridgen, Kevin Pridgen, Melissa Gerald and Mitch Harrelson. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 7 at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins, with the Rev. Darrell Floyd officiating. Burial will follow in Watson Cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of Micky Pridgen, 2872 Methodist Church Road in the Zion Community.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Born in Aynor, Mr. Shelley was the son of the late William I. Shelley and Lavania Chaplin Shelley. He was a member of Tranquil United Methodist Church. He was also a retired merchant and a Mason. Being an avid sportsman, he was the past president of Gunters Island Hunting Club. Mr. Shelley was a high school graduate and attended The Citadel. He was also a member of the US Air Force. Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Helen Baxley Shelley of the home; sister-in-law Bobbie Williamson and her husband, Tom; nephew, Allen Whittington and his wife, Stephanie; and special friends, Barbara and Earl Johnson and Edna Earl Rouse.
