MURRELLS INLET | Marian W. Johnson, 80, widow of Carl E. Johnson, died Friday, Mar. 17, 2006 in Garden Manor Center. She was born Nov. 22, 1925 in Marion, a daughter of the late H. K. Wilson Sr. and Frances Vereen Wilson. Surviving are one son, Bill Johnson and his wife, Linda Burney Johnson of Murrells Inlet; two grandsons, Ron Van Vlake and his wife, Teresa, of Columbia and Marcus Van Vlake and his wife, Shelly, of Spartanburg; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Lee and Julia Kristen Van Vlake, both of Spartanburg; one sister, Bernice Wilkinson of Georgetown; a nephew, Chris Johnson and his wife, Susie, of Georgetown and their daughter, Brooke Sigmon; and a niece, Anne Forbes of James Island and her children, Courtney and Gregg Cameron. He was the son of the late Odell and Doretha Johnson McCrackin. He was predeceased by a half-brother, J.C. Wiggins and a sister, Gloria Rogers. MULLINS — Mrs. Grace Stewart Smith, 87, widow of Nathaniel Elmore Smith, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at her residence after an illness. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 17, in Cedardale Cemetery, with the Rev. Holton Siegling officiating. The services will be directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was born April 2, 1918, in Trenton, S.C., a daughter of the late Clifford C. and Flora Edwards Stewart. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and an artist. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and a member of the Marion County Arts Council. She was a member of Marion Presbyterian Church. Surviving Mrs. Smith are a daughter, Sally Smith Culler of Orangeburg; her grandchildren, Gigi Smith DeLong, Stewart Smith Culler, Jackie Ann Smith, Salli White Smith and John Hayne Culler, Jr.; her great-grandchildren, Ryan Alexander DeLong, William Smith DeLong and Sidney Grace Divine; a sister, Eugenia Stewart Dillard of Greenville; a special family friend, Alfred Williams and dear friends, Lillie Ceo, Sallie Ceo, Constance Lewis, Lilly Howard and John Watson Tart. FLORENCE - John Milton Tyndall, Jr., 83, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, in a Florence hospital after an illness. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 16, 2006, in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by WATERS-POWELL FUNERAL HOME. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. He was born in Marion County, SC, a son of the late John Milton and Essie Missouri Blackburn Tyndall. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. He was retired from Horne Ford of Florence after 40 years as parts manager. Mr. Tyndall was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, York Rite Body of Shriners, and the Order of the Eastern Star. He was predeceased by his son, John Milton Tyndall, III. LORIS | Lester J. Richardson, age 48, son of the late Major Richardson and Mollie Watts Richardson, passed away Sunday, Mar. 12, 2006, at Conway Medical Center with his family by his side. Mr. Richardson was born in Marion County on Sept. 22. 1957. He moved to Horry County when he was a small child and lived here for the rest of his life. He was a humble man who loved spending time with his family and friends. He was very kind to children and loved it when ever they came to see him. He was very dedicated to his children, nieces and nephews. Mr. Richardson was retired due to medical problems and loved to spend his time with his family and fishing. He was a kind hearted man and will be dearly missed by all. In addition to his parents, Mr. Richardson is predeceased by two brothers, Ed Richardson and Lloyd Richardson and one sister, Sylvia Jones. Virginia R. Lee, 66, died March 12, 2006. Virginia was born in Marion County. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Lenora Caulder Reason. She was employed by McLeod Regional Medical Center prior to her illness and attended Calvary Baptist Church. Virginia loved the outdoors, she loved to read her bible and she loved to spend time with her granddaughter, Kaylee. Virginia was predeceased by three brothers, Raleigh, Odell, and Franklin Reason and two sisters, Josephine Norris and Barbara Turlington. Survivors include her daughter, Vicki (Ray) Lundy of Darlington and her brother, Robert (Carolyn) Reason of Marion, SC and Billy Wayne (Lynette) Reason of Brittons Neck.
