    3. I was one of those who helped transcribe the wills information for the Marion County site, and I was glad to be able to help make some of this information available on the web for others to use (I'll note that my part was very small and there were several others who did much more, so I'm not looking for credit here.) I definitely prefer being able to find information on the internet for free, (don't we all!) but I have quite a bit of information I wouldn't have if several people hadn't taken the trouble to write books and sell them, because I don't live in S.C. and I don't have time to go to all the courthouses, cemeteries, and other places and transcribe it myself. I've ordered a CD or two from Bushy. The prices are quite reasonable, and she sends them out very quickly. Just my 2 cents, Donali Haselden Howell -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, April 30, 2006 6:10 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [SCMARION-L] new web page I would like to think all for putting on the web site information on families.I think it awful people is selling our ancester information to make a buck. I think it is great that Bushy and Mike have undertaken the task of preparing and producing the will books for many SC counties. Not all counties have the resources to do the job that Victoria has done. The will books that they are reproducing are inexpensive and indexed. Ed Godbold

    3. Thanks for your comments Donali..... I feel much as you do, however, we did a lot of hard work and also expense to put those wills online and I, for one am very proud of what we did. I feel that it is great that someone is making wills of the various counties available just as long as they are not copying the work that we did and are selling our work for their profit!!! I feel certain that this is not the case.... however, I sure would like to see what they are putting out because we did put in a few little things that would identify our work if it were copied. If that were the case then I would be extemely angry and ready to do something about it. Nothing upsets me more than someone stealing anothers work and making a profit on it! Genealogy has had a lot of this type of thing through the years and if this is the case, then it needs to be stopped! 3. Hi all, This is a COMMERCIAL web site offering to SELL you the Wills from Will Books A and B (1796-1855) that are already online and FREE at the Marion County website: http://sciway3.net/proctor/marion/ For those of you who are new to the list, a group of us worked over the course of a year to get all of these same Wills transcribed and online for researchers. In addition, there were a number of contributions of Wills which would not (or at least should not) be on the CD being offered. Though it's been awhile, I'd like to thank again all of you who participated in our Wills Project and gave so generously of your time, resources, and knowledge of Marion County families. You were, and are, wonderful !!! Victoria

    2. Hi Winkie, I don't have any more info on Thomas Crawford other than what was in the, I call them 1/4 obits put out by the funeral home. You could write to the funeral home and ask them for info or next of kin. Some times the full obit is in the next day, in this case none was published. Some newspapers are charging for this service and if the family doesn't pay, then all there is what the funeral home announces. Hope this helps! Peggy Price PS.
