This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Williams (but this should work with ANY name and place) Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AgB.2ACI/1125.1.1 Message Board Post: The info I am about to give MAY be of use to you; you will have to use the link and check to see if your STATE is on the orange map, click that, scroll down the list of states to the one you want, then find the newspaper you want, CHECK that box, then scroll to "ADDITIONAL SEARCH OPTIONS, follow the instructions to search for the name, date etc. I live in Columbia SC, and I found "last week' look-up" at www.newslibrary.com Go there and follow my instructions: what I used was: Chose South Carolina on orange map; a new page appears with a list of participating newspapers. Scroll to your desired state - look at newspapers there and CHECK the box of the one you want; scroll to ADDITIONAL SEARCH OPTIONS and CHECK the Option you want. I didn't know anything except what was in the Look-up, so I ch ose "STATE,The" because (happily) the Look-up had specified Columbia and that's where The State is published. You may have to work a little harder with your look-up if you don't know a DATE or which State or City your individual lived. I chose the bottom one, and entered the date of death in the first boxes, then entered the date I did the look-up. Enter the individual's "NAME" "anywhere" and "OBITUARY" "anywhere"..... This will make sense when you see the page. I may have put the items in the wrong order, but you will see it all there. AFTER you Submit, WAIT and a page will come up with at least one or two RESULTS; if the name you want is not one of the ones given, scroll just a little way to where it instructs (My words may be wrong) CHECK HERE FOR COMPLETE ARTICLE (I had problems here) and a page with all the obituaries within the range of dates you gave. I hope you find what you want. Follow the instructions if you want to PURCHASE a copy for $2.95. Now you take it from there!
