They gave birth to my Mother on 12/8/1927, then for unknown reasons gave her to a family in Greenville, SC, to raise, though an adoption was never finalized until after the adoptive parents were deceased, and my Mom finalized it herself. I only know that her real parents were from N.C. (Andrew) and S.C. (Grace), no dates of birth, or death. I have a piece of paper with their names, and an address for what appears to say Brandon Mills, # 9 Osteen st, Greenville, along with a hair clipping of my Mothers. I would appreciate any info. or assistance. Thank you, Gretchen

    2. The Carlsons
    3. Linda, thank you so much for your reply to my query regarding Thomas Taylor of Lexington. It is very kind of you. The only real information I have on Thomas (b. 1823) is that he left Lexington District and was residing in Alabama in the 1860 census. Your question about if he died in the CSA is no. Thomas was married and had four small children when his wife died in a fire. This left him a widower with four small children thus he was ineligible to be a soldier during the war but he was a member of the Home Guard. Could you clarify for me who James Jacob and Amos were? Were they brothers to Thomas? Would this family be listed on a census record that I could look up birth dates, etc.? Do you know anything more about Baden and Bethany Taylor from NC? Or have any suggestions as to where I might look to find out? Again, thank you so much for your help. BWC

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Taylor Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AgB.2ACI/1083 Message Board Post: The "1907 Census of Confederate Soldiers in Alabama" records show that Thomas Taylor was born in October 1823 in Lexington District, SC. However, the Baldwin County, Alabama Census shows that he was living with Martin Taylor, born 1792 in SC, and in close proximity to the following named Taylors who also came from this same area: John Taylor, b. 1769 and his wife Margaret, b. 1772 in SC; Henry Taylor, b. 1787 SC, Catherine Taylor b. 1802 SC, Hiram Taylor b. SC, Aaron Taylor b. SC and a Simeon Taylor and a Ward Taylor. These people all arrived and lived in close proximity to each other before 1850 and some have proven to be related to each other. Would anyone have information on these Taylors or any suggestions as to how I might be able to access this information?? Particularly the parents of Thomas Taylor b. 1823. Thanks, BWC

The Gleaton graveyards are mostly around Nesses, SC. If you write to the Orangeburg Historical Society c/o The Salley Archives; Orangeburg, SC and ask about their Cemetery Books, they might have some Bonnetts listed in them. You could ask them if they would mind looking and the price of the book or books that the Bonnett name is in. I believe that there were several different Bonnett families in that county. My connection is back during the early to mid 1800. John Bonnett's daughter, Nancy, was my g-g-grandmother married to Absolum Gleaton. If you are able to come to the OGSGS Octoberfest in Orangeburg this year you might could find some answers there. The Archives will be open then. They usually are and there are some really great old books in there and the staff are very helpful. Doris
