Roberts. He is seen on the 1840 census in Lexington Co, with wife, Elizabeth(b.1820) and two daughters. I believe he was born abt1812, perhaps in Lexington Co. He married in abt 1837 (due to the ages of his children.) He and family are on the 1850 census in Richland Co, Columbia, NC, as well as 1860. He passed away in 1866, of a stroke. His children were Maria A.b. 1838, Amanda b. 1840, John David b. 1842, James T. b. 1844,Emily R. b. 1846, George W. b. 1850, Martin Smith b.1851,Thomas Wiliam b.1852, Henry B. b.1856. He had owned land on #4 Assembly street, but sold it to Susan Patternson in 1862. His obituary stated that he had lived in the area for years and had been a Printer for the Public Treasury---I presume, the Confederacy. He had been paralysed from an earlier stroke and at one time, 1860 is listed as a clerk. I can't find him in any cemeteries in Columbia. Any help would be so appreciated.

I looked up the 1880 census and found Cedecia "Sharp" living next door to John W. Wise, whose wife was named "Mary A. Wise", along with 2 sons. Cedecia had 2 sons herself listed along with a daughter. John Asmond Wise 1876-1954 is buried at the Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery in Edmund, SC. Did John W. Wise father 2 children by the "Widow" living next door? Thanks, Dennis

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AgB.2ACI/1143.1 Message Board Post: The information I have, and unfortunately I am not sure of the proof on this is as follows: Cedecia Corley was the second wife of Francis Sharpe (1799-1873) and they had one daughter that I know of, Mary A. Sharpe, born about 1870. Francis Sharpe, according to Janice Gartman Lee, was the illegitimate son of (unknown male) Spires and (unknown female) Sharpe. Back then the child took the mother's last name in these cases. Francis first married Christena Corley, born about 1807, and had 13 children (according to his Will). He then married Cedecia. After he died, Cedecia supposedly married John Wesley Wise, born about 1839, from Swansea, and had 2 children, John Asmond Wise (1876-1954), and Bailey Wise, born about 1879. I did not check the 1880 census, was a Bailey Wise mentioned, I don' t know when John Wesley Wise died, maybe he died before the 1880 census. Dennis Williams
