Dennis, We are talking about the same person. Here is the problem that I face. In the 1880 census of Lexington county, Caroline Busbee is living with her father, Jesse C. Corley, and has a four year old son named Simon P. Busbee living with her. The problem that I see is that I have the marriage date of Caroline and Aaron as being April 20, 1879. Which would mean that Simon would have been born about 3 years before his parents were married. Then in the 1900 census, there shows up a Simon P Corley living with Barbara Corley (Caroline's younger sister) and her husband John Geiger. This Simon P Corley was also born about 1874 and is buried at St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery in Summit, South Carolina. By any chance, do you know the name of the wife of Simon P. Busbee? That would possibly help clear up my question. --- Webb Bays Blackman Jr. --- dwill9907@yahoo.com wrote: >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Classification: Query > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AgB.2ACI/1165.1 > >Message Board Post: > >I have in my records that Simon P. Corley, however. > >Dennis Williams > > > >============================== >To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: >http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 > > > >

His name was either L. James Stuart or S. James Stuart (it is listed as both in census records) and his wife was Rebecca Corley (daughter of Catharine Corley and sister of Simeon Corley). They had six children (Sarah, John, Lucy, Willie, Mattie, and Naomi). He dies somewhere between 1880 and 1900, but the 1890 census records are missing. He was either born in North Carolina or South Carolina, depending on the census year consulted. Besides the census records from 1850-1880, I know little. Thank you.

I recently found the tombstone of a Simon P. Corley and I found Simon living with Barbara Corley and her husband John Geiger at the time of the 1900 census. But in the 1880 census of Lexington County, there is a Simon P. Buzbee living in the home of Jesse and Abigail Roland Corley. Is this the same man? Both were said to be born in 1876. He is listed as a grandson of Jesse Corley in the 1880 census. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I feel certain that I am in some way related to this man but just wonder how. --- Webb Bays Blackman Jr. ---
