I would like to know where any of the following pieces of property were located. As an aid in understanding some of the property transfers, Jane Todd Presseau reported the following in Treeclimber 7-1-3. Samuel A. Todd married Margaret R. Adkinson, daughter of John Adkinson. John died Oct. 18, 1822, and Samuel and Margaret received 425 acres from his estate. (The only census record that I have for John is 1820 at age 45+). (Banks Creek is a tributary of Saluda, located south of Cross Hill). Deed Book M, page 36, 1828, has Fanny Smith selling 124 acres in the Banks Cr. watershed to Turner Richardson. Bordered John Cook, Mary Deale, Thos. Hitt, Ann Owens, and heirs of John Atkinson. Deed N-17, 1831, has James Wright and wife Frances H. mortgaging 249 1/2 acres, Banks Cr., to John Black, merchant. Bordered Mrs. widow Hitt, John Cook, Dan Crocker / Eachee, Thos. Turner, John Adkinson, and Thos. Hitt. Deed M-111, 1829, has Sam Adkeson selling 468 acres to John Chappell. Known as the Adkison Tract. Bordered Sam Todd, Travis Hill, and Thos. Hitt. Deed N-224, 1837, has Samuel and wife Margaret R. Todd selling 468 acres to George Adams. Bordered north by Moses C. ???, Abner Hitts, and R. M. Owens, west by Thos. Hitts and Daniel Cox, and south by Thos. Turner and N. Todd. Bordereing property owners are repeated as follows. Travis Hill, John Hitt, James Wright, John Armstrong, Nathan Proctor, and Chas. Eagerton. "Formerly John Meek and John Adkinson". There is a plat (survey) shown as Deed N-124, 1813, requested by heirs of John Meek, deceased. It is for 468 acres in the Banks Cr. watershed. Bordered by R. M. Owens on the northeast, Abner Hitt on the northeast, Wm. Starnes on the east, N. Todd and Thos. Turner on the south. Deed N-222, 1837, has Geo. Adams of Newberry Co. selling 468 acre to Travis Hill (Smith and Banks Creeks). Bordered Travis Hill, John Hill, James Wright, John Armstrong, Nathan T. Proctor, and Chas. Eagerton. Formerly John Meeks and John Adkinson. (I am puzzled about whether there were 1 or 2 different tracts of 468 acres owned by the Adkinson family). Deed N-121, 1833, has Fielding Turner estate selling 118 3/4 acres to John Chapman. A plat is shown, with John Adkinson and James Wright on the west, Elihu Watson on the northeast, David Cureton on the east, and Dan Foshee on the southeast. This same property was later sold as Deed N-118, 1834, to John Armstrong. If anyone can locate any of these properties, please let me know. I am not certain that I transcribed the Hitt and Hill names correctly. Richard Lorenz ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard A.
