I found 2 other deeds that help to understand the survey shown as part of Deed P-196. In Deed N-153, 1836, Seth Wilbur and wife Nancy E. sold 90 acres in Cane Cr. watershed to Marshal Starnes. "Part of Puckett's old tract". Bordered R. Cunningham, Wm. Baxter, and Wm. McGowan. Deed Q-208, no date in my notes, but recorded in 1858, John Cunningham sold 82 acres to Wm. Baxter. A plat is included, with John Cunningham on the west (across modern Hwy. 221, but labeled "road from Puckett Ferry to Waterloo" on the plat), Wm. Baxter on the east (on the far side of Cane Cr.), and Marshal Starnes and Wm. Baxter on the south. For those not familiar with Highway 221, it runs from Laurens through Waterloo, across Lake Greenwood (the dammed up Saluda River) and through the town of Greenwood. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard A.
