My Great-Grandfather was William Thomas McKnight born 1849 in Ga. D. 1924 in AL. He married Betheny Sims b. 1849 AL D. 1928 AL. They are both buried in Newton, Dale County, AL. Do you think we might be related? If so I will send more info. AS far as I know no one has ever researched our family or posted anything. I've been doing some research for about a year now. Our McKnight Line went from S. Carolina {unknown before } to Georgia, Texas, and back to Alabama. I understand we have alot of relatives in Texas.
There is a Hiram Sims in the 1830 Laurens Co. Census. Page 250, Line 9, age 40-50. My notes say that there weere many children. He lived in the nowthwestern part of the county, possibly west of Greenpond. There were some Abercrombies living in the same general vicinity. Deed Book M, page 231, 1821, describes a court case with Hiram Sims, Charles Saxon, and Ira Arnold vs. Henry Morgan and Allen Barksdale (1820) former Sheriff ??. 100 acres in Rabon Creek watershed was transferred to Robt. Cresswell (and possibly John C. and Joseph Sullivan). The land bordered Wm. Choice, Nancy Mahaffy, James Donaugh, and B. Mahon.
