Richard, I am amazed at you ability to pinpoint people from the census data of Laurens Co. You have responded to other queries of mine and your assistance is always greatly appreciated. Last evening and again this evening I took out a map of SC and looked at the point near the Saluda and Reedy Rivers where the Sims lived. For the first time I really had a sense of where the family lived. I would like to take and trip and see the lands there to get some sense of what it was like to live there circa 1800. My Mothers family is from the Wood / Edmund Learwood family of Laurens Co. I believe that in 1800 / 1810 they were located near Ware Shoals. It now seems possible that 6 or seven generations back the families may have known each other. It is an interesting speculation spawned by your help in locating the Sims family. Jim, Do you have anything on an Ann(a) Sims married to Michael McGee, late 1700s? They lived in this same area, at various times in Laurens & Abbeville Counties. I had in my mind that they were already married when they moved from NC, but (a) that might not be correct and (b) so many familes moved around in groups that it might not matter whether they were married in NC or SC. ..joe harrington -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, September 25, 2001 9:46 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [SCLAUREN] Re: SCLAUREN-D Digest V01 #118 Richard, I am amazed at you ability to pinpoint people from the census data of Laurens Co.
