SOUTH CAROLINA I William Pitts of the District and state aforesaid being of sound and disposing LAURENS DISTRICT mind and memory but weak in body and calling to mind the uncertainly of life and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly Estate as it hath please God to bless me with so make and ordain this my last will in manner following that is to say, 1st I Give to my wife Sally Forty acres of the tract of land that I now live on the part that the dwelling house & land in and one Bed and furniture during her natural life time and at her Death it is my will that the land should belong to my son Reuben Griffin and I give to my son William Pitts two Dollars and I give to my son Daniel Pitts two Dollars and I give to my Daughter Nelly Frasher Two Dollars and I give to my son David twenty acres of the tract of land that I now love on in the corner of the tract above his house and I Give to my son Jesse J. my negro boy Henry and should Jesse J. die without any heir then I desire the negro should be sold and the money Equally divided betwix my sons Thomas ! and John and I Give to my son Thomas my negro boy named Ralph and should Thomas die without any heir then I desire that the negro should be sold and the money be Equally divided betwix my sons Jesse J. & John and I Give to my son John my negro woman Milicea [?] and should John die without any heir then I desire that the negro should be sold and the money be Equally divided betwix my sons Jesse J. & Thomas and all the balance of my Estate be sold and all my Just Debts paid and if their be any Remainder that it should be Equally divided betwix my several children namely William, Daniel, Nella, David, Reuben Griffin, Jesse J. , Thomas & John and lastly I do constitute and appoint my friend John Boult Esq. my Executor of this my last will and testament in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my land and seal this twenty fifth day of April one Thousand and Eight hundred and Thirty Eight.
