Fortunately, no mainstream genealogical organization accepts such undocumented sources any more, but we must spend time trying to prove or disprove what our predecessors have alleged. There were two John Rodgers in Charlotte Cty VA at the same time. One was a son of Andrew Rodgers who died in 1755 in Lunenburg VA, and he was mentioned in Andrew's will. This John Rodgers was born about 1730. He married Margaret McNeese and moved to Laurens SC with his widowed mother, Jane, his brother Andrew (who married Margaret McNeese Rodgers' sister, Ann) and other members of Andrew Rodgers of Lunenburg's family. The second John Rodgers was a son of William Rodgers (who died in VA in 1750 and who was a son of Andrew Rodgers of Lunenburg who died in 1755) and Margaret Caldwell. This second John Rodgers was born in 1746. He married Margaret Daugherty and moved to KY and TN where he died. Two John Rodgers men; each married a Margaret; each John with same family connections. It is easy to get them confused, but thanks to information that is available now to researchers, their separate lives are known and can be documented. I encourage you to "verify" the above facts that are available in VA and SC records, and which I hope to publish with documented sources and footnotes in the near future. In my opinion to hold onto books of questionable or dubious value and to continue to refer to them is not helpful. Good luck to all of us. Regards,
