Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YeB.2ACI/545.1.2.1.1.2.2.2.2.1.1.1 Message Board Post: hi i am re-posting both to repeat and to add info. john rodgers, esq, was one of the purchasers of my william harris, jr's 1799/ 1800 laurens co, sc estate sale. i repeat this because this info cannot be found in any of the published laurens co, sc records. so, for the record, the purchasers of my william harris, jr's 1799/ 1800 laurens co, sc estate sale were: mrs (frances) harris; john harris; thomas harris; charles harris; and william harris; john mc laughlin; james vance; luke dempsey; john davenport; thomas cargill; and john rodgers, esq. my william harris, jr' s estate also paid william rodgers for a dower of 100 acres of land taken from him by my william harris, jr. my william harris, jr's estate also paid andrew rodgers per open account and for the cost of a suit. william rodgers was also paid per open account. per laurens co, sc deed book A, page 94, 1774/ 1785, william harris and wife, frances, of craven co, formerly berkley co to michael waldrop of same for 100 pds, 150 acres on norths creek of little river original grant 1/7/1772 b on andrew rodgers. wit: shadrack martin; robert cooper, john mc nary. test: john rodger, j.p. this was my william harris, jr and his wife, frances, who i believe was the dau of my john rodgers, esq/ sr and his wife, margaret mc nees. this shadrack martin married jane mc nees sister of my margaret mc nees rodgers. this john rodger, j.p. was my john rodgers, esq and, per this deed, he did not just witness the sale but gave testimony. i do not know when my john rodgers, esq/ sr died. there is an item in the laurens co, sc will book 1784-1840 by willis; will book E----23 may, 1818, appraisal of the estate of john rodger, decd (very dim, cannot read). 28 may, 1818, estate sale (entire page dim). my frances rodgers harris died 1800/ 1801 laurens co, sc. re shadrack martin, there is also this laurens co, sc deed: laurens co, sc deed book D, page 187, 1786/ 1792, shadrack martin and wife, jane, to martin martin, sr, 150 acres on branch of little river, part of 300 acre original grant to shadrack martin b on richard hicks, martin martin, and shadrack martin, near betty martin's oak corner. wit: lewis saxon; william martin; william tyner. joseph downs, j.p. thanks again------belva harris cauthen
