I have been looking at deed records and found some that look like the John Owens properties. It seems that his son Robert eventually "collected" his brother's and father's lands. #1. John gave 100 acres to wife Mary which would then go to son Daniel. In Deed Book N, page 63, 1834, Robert Owen bought 100 acres from Daniel's estate, located in the Enoree River watershed. Could be the same land. #2. John gave 100 acres to son Thomas on west side of Allison Creek. Allison flows from Hurricane Church to Duncan Creek about a mile below Duncan Cr. Church. In Deed Book N, Page 67, 1834, Robert Owen purchased land from Thomas Owens estate. On Duncan Creek watershed, which includes Allison Cr. No acreage recorded in my notes. Could be same land. #3. John willed his Land Grant of 214 acres to son Daniel. Deed Book N, page 64, 1834, shows that Robert purchased 214 acres from the estate of Daniel Owens. The deed describes this land as being on the South Fork of Duncan Creek. The Union County Land Grant Maps show John Owen's land grant on the main Duncan Creek watershed about 1 mile west of Sardis Church, and 1 mile north of modern highway 72. I think we are talking about the same piece of land, but I do not know what the error is in the location descriptions. I have not run across any records for Robert Owen selling any of his land.
