Christopher Woodson first appeared in my census notes in the 1829 census with a family of 6. No ages or sex information in the 1829 census. In 1830 and 1840 he lived near Shady Grove or Bonds Crossroads according to my interpretation of the census records. Deed Book O, page 55, 1841, has Christopher Woodson etc. selling 99 acres on Hedley (Headless?) Creek to George Y. Roland. Property bordered John Johnson, Leven Stewart, and Littles Roland. Tract which Green Richards, dec., ______. I could not read the ______, but what I wrote in my notes might be the word "possessed". The "etc." above might mean that someone else owned a share of the land. The Headley Creek location is compatible with Shady Grove and Bond's Crossroads. My interpretation of Christopher's 1850 census location is that he had moved somewhere else, probably within some miles of Lisbon Church. Not certain about that. Sorry that I don't have any information about his family connections. In my previous reply I mentioned the sale of 99 acres by Christopher Woodson in 1841. It looks like this same piece of property was sold earlier as follows. Deed Book N, page 165, 1836, has Isaac O Sheales mortgage 99 acres on Headly Creek to Fred Johnson "for better security of Fred Johnson". Property borders John Johnson and Leven Y. Stuart. My interpretation of this is that mortgaged property could be reclaimed if the amount owed could be paid. Since this same piece of land was later sold by "Christopher Woodson etc.", I am guessing that the land was reclaimed by Isaac O Sheales (O'Shields) and later transferred to Christopher Woodson. It is not unusual for records of land transfers to be missing, since people did not bother to have all deeds recorded in the books in Laurens. ----- Original Message ----- From: "TRMitcham" <trmitcham@vircom.net> To: <SCLAUREN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 18, 2005 10:55 AM Subject: [SCLAUREN] Woodson.
