Over the years several articles have been published about this alleged relationship, but under scrutiny they have all fallen apart for lack of documented evidence or outright errors. There is, however, strong evidence that John Rodgers, who married Margaret McNeese and was the father of John Leander Rodgers, was a son of Andrew Rodgers who died in Lunenburg VA in 1755. Andrew's will includes a son, John. Several of his other sons, including Patrick, Andrew and Thomas, also moved to Laurens SC. Land records and family connections further enhance this relationship.
