    1. Re: [SCLAUREN] William Greenberry Taylor property
    2. Richard A. Lorenz
    3. Wm. Greenberry Taylor is in the 1850 and 1860 censuses, apparently born about 1820. Based on these census records and the following deeds, I believe that he lived in the vicinity of Mount Bethel Church, perhaps within a mile. Deed Book P, page 188, 1848, has Linney Pool selling 75 acres in the Reedy River watershed to Berryman Taylor. Borders Elisha Williams, Joseph Simmons, and Wm. Wood. Deed Q-136 has Nancy Pyles, John H. Pyles, John Bagwell, Dydamy Bagwell, and Isaac Hawkins selling 111 acres in Reedy River watershed to Berryman Taylor. The above property was sold again as Deed Y-3, 1883. Geo. P. Taylor, lessant ??, transferred his interest in 111 acres to brother Green Berry Taylor. Land was estate of father Berry Taylor and mother Mary Taylor. "The home place". Bordered W. L. Wood and James Stone. A second tract in this deed is referred to as "the widow Pyles place", and is 75 acres. This tract bordered W. L. Wood and Robert Siebert. The 1883 map shows a James Stone located a little more than a mile north of Mount Bethel Ch., and a Robert Siebert about 1/2 mile south of Mt. Bethel. W. L. Woods has several locations on the 1883 map. Deed Q-137, 1856, has Hugh Saxon selling ? "deed of interest" to Green Berry Taylor, 169 acres in Rabun Creek watershed. Borders Wm. Irby, John Yeargin, and J. A. Eigleberger. "Being the plantation where my mother Naomey Saxon ? resides, by virtue of a deed executed by my father Samuel Saxon to Dr. Hugh Saxon, dec.". (I do not know where this piece of land is located- RAL). Previous deeds for this property are the following, I believe. Deed M-151, 1830, has Wm. F. Downs and wife Clariss selling 169 acres in Rabun Cr. watershed to Sam Saxon. "conv. within by Chas. Saxon to said Downs. A plat is included in the record showing Wm. Irby and Wm. Johnson as bordering property owners. Deed M-152, 1830, has Sam Saxon and wife Oney selling 169 acres in Rabon watershed to Hugh Saxon. "Part of my father's old tract converted by Chas. Saxon to W. F. Downs and then to Samuel Saxon. Deed M-149, 1830, describes a property that was close to the above tract, I believe. Wm. Johnson sold 100 acres to James Johnson. Bordered Robert McNeese on the northwest, Sam Saxon on the north, Wm. Burton on the northeast, Isaac Ide ?? (Dial ??) on the east, Mima Jack Junior on the southeast, and Andy Henderson on the south and west. I believe that these Rabun Creek tracts were located about a mile southwest of Zion Church, possibly on the east side of North Rabun, less than 1/2 mile from the junction of North and South Rabun. Getting back to the Mt. Bethel Ch. location, especially Deed P-188 that mentions Joseph Simmons. He owned property adjacent to Mt. Bethel Ch. He might have owned property elsewhere, of course. Deed P114, 1849, has Wm. and wife Frances Mitchell deeding 11 1/4 acres to John G. Humbert, Elisha W. South, Greenberry Riley, and James M. Eppes, trustees. (I believe trustees of Mt. Bethel-RAL). Bordered Wm. and Frances Mitchell, Meth. Episc. Church South, and Joseph Simmons. Also connected with the Church, Deed P-115, 1849, has Wm. and Frances Mitchell selling 3/4 acre to John G. Humbert and others (Meth Episc. Church South). Borderd land deeded to Rebecca South. Deed Q-151 has Wm. Mitchell selling 1 1/2 acres to Elisha W. South. "Now leased to trustees of Mt. Bethel Church fo a camp meeting ground. Bordered south and west by the church, north by Joseph B. Simmons, and east by Wm. Mitchell. Church and graveyard out of Joseph B. Simmons". This same tract was sold again as Deed U-635, 1877. E. W. South sold 1 1/2 acres to J. B. Humbert, J. Epps, and W. D. Sullivan, trustees of Mt. Bethel Church. Bordered south and west by church, north by W. L. w\Wood, and east by Wm. Mitchell. ----- Original Message ----- From: <formy1@lycos.com> To: <SCLAUREN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 23, 2006 10:16 AM Subject: [SCLAUREN] Medlock tintype from Laurens Co.
