    1. Re: Thomas Taylor property

    3. There is a Thomas Taylor who lived within a few miles of Mt. Bethel Ch., I believe. It has been suggested that he might be the father of Wm. Greenberry Taylor, but no proof is available, as I understand it. The 1840 census has a Thomas Taylor on page 13, line 1, who has 2 males of the age that matches Wm. Greenberry's age. Deed Book N, page 91, 1835, has John Pyles and wife Ruthy, and (my notes are not clear about this) daughter Pamela Taylor, wife of Thomas Taylor, sold 127 acres on a branch of Reedy River to Nathaniel Pyles. The previous owner of this land was Leroy W. Madison according to Deed N-92, 1834. Nathaniel Pyles was a bordering property owner. Deed N-237, 1836, has Joshua Smith selling 81 acres on a branch of Reedy to Sam Beeks. Bordered Elisha Williamson, Thos. Crofford, N. Pyles, T. T. Taylor, and land of the owner. Deed O-7, 1840, has Sam Beeks selling 365 acres in Reedy watershed to Thos. J. Sullivan. Bordered Francis Beeks to river, W. E. South, Elihu Williamson, and Thomas Taylor. On Reedy River. ( This might possibly be the land where T. J. Sullivan is shown on the 1883 map in grid C3, less than a mile from Mt. Bethel). This same Sullivan tract, or part of it, was transferred by his heirs as follows. Deed V-275, 1878, John D. Sullivan transferred "my interest in the estate of my father Thos. J. Sullivan" to Thos. J. Sullivan and Chas. M. Sullivan. "Homestead of Thos. J. Sullivan". Bordered E. W. South, W. W. Andrews, and W. L. Wood. Deed Q-159, no date in my notes, has Sarah Medlock, Waldeman Murff, Benj. and Mat. Johnson, James Simmons, and Lucy Medlock selling or transferring their interests in 89 acres to Thos. Taylor. "James Medlock, dec., sold tract to Thomas Taylor. Deed Q-159, 1856, has Thos. Taylor selling 89 acres to James Taylor. Bordered John Knight, Sarah Medlock, and the late Wm. Puckett. Deed T-81, 1867, has Nathan Pyles estate selling 55 1/4 acres to John H. Pyles. Land on the southwest side of Reedy River, on Reedy. Bordered Joseph B. Simmons, Wm. Mitchell, James A. Simmons, Thos. T. Taylor, and the estate of Thos. J. Sullivan. This same tract was resold as Deed S-49, 1870. J. H. Pyles sold 55 1/4 acres in Reedy watershed to Wm. L. Woods. Bordered widow Taylor, estate of Thos. J. Sullivan, and Joseph Simmons. In my opinion, Thos. Taylor's land seems to have been a mile or so southeast of Mt. Bethel Ch. ----- Original Message ----- From: <formy1@lycos.com> To: <SCLAUREN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 23, 2006 10:16 AM Subject: [SCLAUREN] Medlock tintype from Laurens Co.
