She married John Childers/ Childress in Laurens Co around 1792 and had several children whose CSA and other records state they were b. Laurens Co SC. They are in the 1800-1810 census for Laurens Co. John died in the 1820's and Nancy carried her children to McMinn Co near John's brother Abraham's family. By 1834, since she was 1/2 Cherokee according to applications she migrated into Lumpkin Co Ga and kept her heritage hidden from those responsible for the removal. Only close friends knew she and her children were of Cherokee blood. Unfortunately, the family of Abraham was sent on the trail. His son was Lemuel Childress and his family had to leave their large land holdings and settle in Indian Territory Arkansas. He married a Vann, who was also of mixed heritage.her father was an important speaker for the Cherokees in DC.
