SC Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/SC/Laurens/10290 Surname: Hunter, Simpson, Smith ------------------------- John Hunter (1732-1802) wife's name was Sarah Smith. They were married in Ireland. After John's death Sarah married John Simpson (1751-1815). Sarah died in 1836. John Hunter, Sarah Smith Hunter Simpson, John Simpson, and John Simpson's first wife Mary, are all buried in the Little River Church Cemetery located near the Laurens/Newberry County line. I have no information on Sarah Smith's parents. John Hunter was a U.S. Senator from SC 1796-1798. He was also a U.S. Representative from SC 1793-1795. There is much conflicting information around on the Laurens County Hunter families. Some sources have his birth date as 1760, but that doesn't fit well with his grave marker that says age 70. [Although one report says that the grave marker gives his age as 50, in 1802.] The above is my best estimate of the correct dates. Dave Hanna Georgetown, Texas
