His name was Lewis and I am not sure of his surname. It could have been either Zachariah/Zacharius or George. He married Mary, not sure of last name but could have been George, around 1830. They moved to Jefferson Co area in AL about 1833? He had a land grant from service in the war of 1812. When they moved to AL, his last name was George. But there is a family story that one of our male ancestors was born with the last name Zachariah. He changed it to George at the request of his father in law when they married because there were no male heirs. The story about how Lewis and Mary came to AL is the same as the family story, so I am almost sure it was Lewis who was born a Zachariah. I can not find a Lewis Zachariah or Lewis George in Laurens SC. So I am looking for someone who may have the same story and can fill in the blanks. Thank You I appreciate any help you can offer.
