Probably the easiest way to make the results available would be to have the testee put his results on Y-Search, then post the code for them (NOT the URL for his personal page, just the code for comparison). That way anyone could look up the code and see what other results match. And if the person uploads a GEDCOM, then others could see the line of descent from about 1900 back, as well. As an example, my uncle's Y-DNA is representative of our line of Pattersons, who were in the Laurens/Newberry County area in the late 1700s and early 1800s before moving on to Alabama. To see his results, go to YSearch at http://www.ysearch.org and look for matches for 4WA7U, which is his code. By clicking on the code in the resulting results table, you can bring up the actual marker values. Margaret Lindsey Smith

    3. The Laurens Co. Scrap Book, page 631, lists Samuel Barksdale as the post master. I do not know very accurately where he lived, but I believe it to be northeast of Dials Church. In 1860 there were 97 dwellings served by the Monroe Post Office. I do not have Mary M. Collins in my 1860 census notes. If you can tell me here dwelling number in that census I might be able to tell you more accurately where she lived. If so, they should be able to tell you who your great-grand parents are. That would help in finding your ancestors. Also, if you know the last names of your grand mother, great grand mother, that would help, too. Strangely enough, most genealogy folks are focusing on many generations back, and won't know who your great grandparents are since that is too new. There might be a lot of info on your Great (5) grand parents, but you need to make the connection to get there! Feel free to e-mail me if you would like. Sarah

    1. Re: [SCLAUREN] Re: Neighbors on an old Plat reply
    2. Richard A. Lorenz
    3. There is a good chance that the plat in question is related to land described on page 143 of the Motes Book and shown on Map 9, page 140. The Motes Book describes a Survey, a Memorial, and a sale of land owned by Wm. Hasel Gibbs. All 3 describe the same piece of land. The following is a quote from the Motes Book. Memorial by William Gibbes; 750 acres (being a part of 3 tracts of 2000 acres) in Craven County on waters of Little Saludy called Mudlick and Beaverdam Fork. Bounded NW by James Lucas, John Chestnut, and vacant land; SW by James Burgess; SE by John Fountain and James North. Survey certified 9 Jan. 1772 and granted 15 May 1772. Quit rent to commence in 2 years. Signed 26 June 1772 Richard Winn D. S. Delivered to William Williamson. The Survey states that the plat map shows John Fountain and James Motes. This survey was in 1771. The land was sold to William Williamson in 1772. Map 9 on page 140 shows the land to be at the headwaters of Norths Creek, a branch of Mudlick. It is also called Mill Creek on other maps. Map 9 indicates that James Motes purchased the Wm. Marsh property via Thos. North. Map H on page 210 of the Motes Book shows more details of the Gibbs, Williamson, and James Motes property. ----- Original Message ----- From: "brenda compton" <bmcompton2000@yahoo.com> To: <SCLAUREN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, September 28, 2005 3:38 AM Subject: [SCLAUREN] Re: Neighbors on an old Plat > Hello, does anyone have any of these deeds of these > men.
