Here are some deeds that mention George Wolf. Deed Book J, page 83, 1807. Wm Underwood sold 217 acres to Geo. Wolf, Jr. Bordered Alex Glenn, John Sinclair, and Henderson. Witnesses James and Ann Saxon. Dowery of Keziah Underwood. Deed J-242, 1809 / 1811. Hugh O'Neall sold 229 acres on ? Bush River to George Wolf, except for 2 acres for a Meeting House. Borders Nimrod Argo, Mathew Jones, John Miller, Sr., Josiah East, and Betsy Barksdale. Dowery of Elizabeth O'Neill. Deed K-123, 1814 / 1816. Geo. Wolf, Sr., sold 370 acres to Isaac Tannery / Turney? except where meeting house stands. On waters of Bush River. Borders estate of John Miller, Josiah East, Betsy Barksdale. Dowery of Agnes Wolf. Deed K-71, 1814. John and Mary Sinclair transferred "our interest" in 175 acres on Little River, property of Allen East, dec. (oldest son of Shadrick East) &: bequeathed to said Allen. Part of 245 acre grant to Sarah Hunter in 1785. Said Allen leaving mother Mary E., now wife of John Sinclair, Cusiah E. wife of Wm. Milner, Nancy E. wife of John Sinclair, and Thos. East, his heirs. Borders Wm. Dunlap, Alex Glenn, Geo. Wolf, and Jos. Wilson ?. Deed K-152, 1816, has similar wording as above, but mentions bordering property owners as Wm. Dunlap, Geo. Wolf, Caleb Glenn, and Jos. Williams. I believe that the "Meeting House" mentioned above is Hurricane Methodist Church which is located a couple miles southwest of Joanna. I believe that the Wolf property was on the southeast side of the church, but I am not certain about this. Seeking information for John Francis Wolfe/Wullf/etc born 16 January 1812. He married Nancy Shell. John had a twin sister named Sarah who married John or David Little...or both? John and Sarah Wolfe/Wolf were children of George Gottlieb Wolfe and his wife Nancy Agnes Underwood. George Gottlieb Wolf was previously married to Sarah Underwood by whom he had my lineal descent, George Wolf, Jr. (an only child of that union) according to family lore. I would like to have more information about George Gottlieb Wolf and his first wife Sarah Underwood...also her parents. These folks were all from Laurens County area, SC. Thank you ever so much! Ila
The only Samuel Crumpton / Compton that I have in my census notes appeared before 1830. In the 1800s, the Crumptons and Comptons lived in the northern part of the county, not near Beaverdam Church. There is a Beaverdam Creek in the northern part of the county. Also nothing on Wm. H. Bailey. Richard, I saw your post about Zachariah Bailey and the Beaverdam Church and I just had to write to find out if perhaps your Zachariah was related to William Holcomb Bailey or Luvicey Bailey or any Crumptons. I am researching a Crumpton and Coleman family from that area (trying to find out who was the father of Samuel Crumpton -born 1834- ) This Samuel Crumpton Married a Cynthia Bailey and moved to Ponotoc MS in the 1850's and then when that Cynthia died in 1887 he married a Cynthia Coleman in 1888 who I believe may have been a cousin to the first Cynthia but not sure. I know there there are Colemans and Bailey's buried at the Beaverdam Baptist Church cemetary and I know that in 2-23-1797 there was a deed for 28 acres on Beaver Dam creek that indexed the named of William & Samuel Crumpton as well as a John Coats and John Hunter and Jarole Chondler but I can't figure out if that was actually the same land that the Beaverdam Baptist church was on. Anyway, if you know about any Crumpton's your family tree and how they may connect with your Zachariah Bailey I would love to hear from you. Thanks so much, Beth - _bkradar@aol.com_ (mailto:bkradar@aol.com) p.s. If anyone knows how I can find out the history on the Crumpton House in Ridgeway I would love to hear from you.

I thought that this might be of interest. Deed Book N, page 125, 1835, has Zachariah Bailey transferring 1 1/2 acres to Beaverdam Church. "Formerly Beaverdam Church. Except a small piece given by my father Zach Bailey to Alsey Fuller for a burying ground". A plat is included that shows D. Fuller as an adjacent property owner. I believe that this is the Daniel Fuller who is shown on the plat in Deed N-79, 1834, with property adjacent to Zachariah Bailey and Wm. Moore. In this deed, Moore's tract of 1384 acres is sold to John Odell. Deed O-181, 1828, also mentions Daniel Fuller. Gallatin Young sold 793 acres to Alsey Fuller. "Where I now live known by the name of Mountville". (The old Mountville was at a slightly different location from the current Mountville. RAL). Property bordered said Alsey Fuller, Martha Quin, Asa Chandler, Wm. Bailey, Zachariah Bailey, Sr., Dan Fuller, Wm. Nelson, John Walker, Sarah Holt, Wm. White, and Noent ? Fuller. Richard, Thank you for the deeds. Do you know who the John & Rufus McCrary mentioned in the last are? I know one of my Sixth Great Grandfather Col. Robert McCrary's brother was Thomas, but I only have my direct line McCrary tree so the only John & Rufus I can think of are Third Great Grandfather John & his brother Rufus C. McCrary, but lived here in Georgia. Looking at the 'Estate of John McCrary, dec'd 1825' it mentions: Robert McCrary's receipt for the rent of Plantation - his distributive share for year 1825 paid May 29, 1826 - also $3.00 balance of Martha H. McCrary's share of rent after expenses. Grandfather John did not have any daughters named Martha that I am aware of, & none of the men married Martha's, so I am wondering if this Martha H. McCrary is Fifth Great Grandfather John's wife. Though perhaps a second wife for in the 1820 Census there are only two females, 2 10/16 & 2 16/26. I always think things would be easier for us all if census records had always listed names before 1850..lol. Sincerely, Lena "Richard A. Can anyone locate this property for me? Deed Book N, page 20, no date but the deed was recorded in 1833. Sam Young and wife Nancy sold 510 acres to Henry Shell in Bush River watershed. Part granted --- on Gary to Sam Young and a part from Robert Young to Sam Young. Balance deeded from Abner Young executor of George Leak estate to Sam Young. A plat is included, but does not show north direction. Directions that follow are my determination. A waterway flows through the property that I believe is north branch of Bush River, now called Shell Creek. Bordering property owners are James Copeland and Margaret Hunter on the east, Frederick Foster on the south, H. Barksdale on the southwest, Jeremiah Leak on the west, Abner Teague on the northwest, and Margaret Hooker on the north. My guess as to property location is midway between Joanna and Youngs Crossroads. I believe that Shell Creek was named for Henry Shell and this piece of property. Does anyone know if the Laurens Co. Historical group has a record of who the various geographical features were named for? If they do not have such a record, it seems like it would be a valuable project to undertake. I believe that the Fred Foster land mentioned above is the 1074 aces that he sold to J. A. Eigleberger in 1835, Deed N-107. Bordering property owners for this tract were David Martin, Henry Shell, H. Barksdale, and Bush River. This property was sold again in 1837, Deed N-238, to George Adams. Bordering property owners from this deed were David Martin, John Hunter, Henry Shell, Higgerson Barksdale, James Neal, and Elijah Teague. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard A. I cannot help with John's wife. According to my census correlation, John and son Mathew lived near Renno. Some Deeds follow. Deed Book M, page 114, 1828, the sheriff transferred 234 acres from estate of John McCreary to Robert McCreary, in the Duncan Creek watershed. Bordered Perry Jeans, Lydia ? Reeder, and Joseph Jeanes. Deed M-115, 1828, sheriff transferred 219 acres from the estate of John McCreary to Mathew McCreary, in Duncan Creek watershed. Bordered Richard Duckett, George Young, and a tract purchased by Robert McCreary. These 2 properties were also located near Renno, I believe, but am not certain. Deed S-563, 1872, sheriff transferred 400 acres to W. H. McCrary. Case John and Rufus McCrary executors vs. Mathew McCrary. Bordered Dr. Thos. Weir, Watts ? Copeland, and Joseph Janes ??. I believe that this property may have also been located near Renno. ----- Original Message ----- From: "JRA" <janie_reb_aingeal@yahoo.com> To: <SCLAUREN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, March 27, 2006 11:49 AM Subject: [SCLAUREN] McCrary Family > I am looking for the name of my Fourth Great Grandmother. I have some property records for an Aaron Wells in the 1870s. One mentions wife Elizabeth. Could this be the person you are looking for? ----- Original Message ----- From: "brenda compton" <bmcompton2000@yahoo.com> To: <SCLAUREN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, March 26, 2006 12:45 PM Subject: [SCLAUREN] Re: John Wells > Hello list, > > I have a Aaron Wells married a Ruth Henderson, does anyone have any > material on him. > Thanks, > > Brenda > > > --------------------------------- > Yahoo! My notes show a John F. Saxon in the 1880 census, page 274, dwelling 653. Age 47 with wife Jane A. Saxon, age 47. I don't know if this is the same John F. listed as age 3 in the 1850 census. I do not know if there were any female children in the 1880 census listing. ----- Original Message ----- From: "brenda compton" <bmcompton2000@yahoo.com> To: <SCLAUREN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 24, 2006 12:30 AM Subject: [SCLAUREN] Re: John Saxton married to Emila Brown > Hello, I have a John Saxton in my files, their daughter Ada Saxton b.
