This Wm. Cannon sounds like the person that I have reported on. I am not especially working on this family, just reporting the information that I have. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Winack27@aol.com> To: <SCLAUREN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, June 18, 2006 10:57 PM Subject: Re: [SCLAUREN] Cannon reply > Are you working on William Cannon b.1788-1815 in South Carolina? > > > ============================== > Find your ancestors in the Birth, Marriage and Death Records. > New content added every business day. Are you working on William Cannon b.1788-1815 in South Carolina?
You are right. It is not possible from this deed to tell if William's bordering property was also a part of the original Cooper land grant. I am hoping to get a copy of Sarah Nash's book that abstracts the deeds recorded up to 1829. Not all deeds were recorded, so I don't know if there is any more information about Wm. Cannon's properties. ----- Original Message ----- From: "JoyMac" <joymac@gogenesis.com> To: "Richard A. Richard, Below it states the deeded land was bordered by Jesse Holder, Wm. Cannon, and Soloman Langston. Hendricks DNA Project Update 06/17/2006 Note: 26 Hendricks Groups with results or partial results from 56 posted out of a total of 61 DNA participants Our Web Site Address at FTDNA is http://www.ftdna.com/public/hendricks/<http://www.ftdna.com/public/hendricks/>. A copy of the DNA results for each group and a mini-lineage is available via request to Herb_316@MSN.com<mailto:Herb_316@MSN.com> Summary 1. Pamunkey (VA) Hendrick Nordic Haplotype instead of Western Europe. DNA profile established. A fourth DNA participant has matched to this group (37 markers). Deep Clad results indicate Nordic possible routing to Dutch location per Ben Hendrick. 2. Frontier Hendricks Nordic Haplotype instead of Western Europe, Two Mile Creek, Spartanburg District, SC Hendricks group identified as Frontier Hendricks. Also Isaac Hendrix group that went into Franklin Co., GA. DNA profile Established. We now have 6 Frontier Hendricks with 37 marker results which has solidified two sons of Albertus Hendrixson, Jacobus and Johannes and another Frontier Hendricks with 25 marker results for a total of 6 in this group. 3. Daniel Hendrick of MA Nordic Haplotype instead of Western Europe; DNA profile Established. Five DNA participants plus the Daniel Hendricks of Bertie Co., NC all seem to match for a total of 7 participants for this group. A Martin Hendrix has had a deep clades test. 4.. A Daniel Hendrick Sr. of Bertie Co., NC descendant, Jabesh Hendricks of NC, to Edgefield Co., SC to Bullock Co., GA does not match prior Albemarle Hendricks participant, however another Jabesh Hendrick matches the Daniel Hendrick of MA group within the same difference within the Daniel Hendrick of MA Group. It was concluded the first Daniel Hendrick Sr of Bertie Co., NC descendant Jabesh Hendrick is considered to also match the Daniel Hendrick because of a fast moving mutation site. Another cousin of the Bullock Co., GA group will also be tested. Therefore at this time it is considered that the Daniel Hendrick of MA and the Daniel Hendricks Sr. of Bertie Co., NC has the same common descendant in Daniel Hendrick of MA. 5. Proof of two Albemarle Hendricks groups early on in Eastern NC? See 39586 and 28876, also see Patti Mulnix book on Daniel Hendricks Sr. of Bertie Co., NC. 5. Moses Hendricks m Susanna of SC not Frontier Hendricks. Eastern Europe Descent, DNA Profile Established, five participants. One had his DNA done at Relative Genetics. All five relatives have an excellent match to prove Moses Hendricks m Susanna's DNA profile... 6. James Hendricks m Jane of SC not Frontier Hendricks. Western Europe Descent, DNA Profile Established, four participants. A deep clades test results lead to a dead end due to lack of sufficient data base and an earlier defined grouping. 7. Nordic descent dominate group of Hendricks as to date 4/07/2006 8. Newberry County/District SC Hendricks before 1800 all four groups identified via DNA. Searching to identify another group found there shortly after 1800; Garrett Hendrick wife Ruth Family. HDH Note: this is not old Garrett Hendrix wife Mary. 9. The only Lexington Co., SC Hendricks to date does not match to Frontier Hendricks per Dr. J. S. Davenports' research conclusions in Frontier Hendricks. DNA participant 37994 has K-2 Haplotype from Lexington, SC... We have finally obtained a DNA sample from the Lexington Hendrix group; Tobias Hendricks m Margaret Sprenckel. Results of this test show this Tobias Hendricks m Margaret Sprenckel group to be Frontier Hendricks. 10. The Henry Hendricks b NJ 1730 Group is now up to 4 DNA candidates and is showing 37 markers test an excellent match to all the participants. 11. We now have a Hendrickson with an N haplotype, with no matches to another group. See definition at end of DNA Chart. 12. Group 3 James Hendricks has two participants with an exact match between both participants. 13. The Henry Hendrix m Martha Marput of Newberry, SC and the Archibald Hendrix of Lexington, SC has matching Haplogroup of K-2. See description at end of DNA Chart. 14. We have two DNA participants whose lineage is Gov. William Hendricks of IN. Note this lineage does not match to the Frontier Hendricks lineage predicted by Davenport, Wright and others of the Hendricks Family Association. God Bless. Nathaniel Cannon is also in the 1800 census. He is with 2 males in the 0-10 year age bracket. William is with 2 males age 0-10, and 1 male age 10-16. Wm. Cannon is mentioned in Deed Book O, page 265, 1796. (This deed was not recorded at the Court House until 1860). Joseph Lenard sold 80 acres to John Mahon. Part of land granted to Wm. Cooper, converted to Agness Couch, then to Wm. Cannon, and then to Joseph Lenard. Bordered Jesse Holder, Wm. Cannon, and Soloman Langston. Witnesses Solomon Holder and James Hanna. A land grant of 200 acres in 1786 is shown in the Union Co. Land Grant Maps. It is northeast of Langston Ch., between Cox's Cr. and Campbell Cr. My census location correlation shows that Wm. Wou;ld like to know more about Andrew Johnson whom was there in the middle 1820's did e have any partners in his talior shop Thank you SGS
I hope that this reply works. Only about half of my replies get through to the listing. "Menoah" seems to be the correct name for the above person, not "Mincha". Deed Book O, page 124, has Thomas Gary mortgaging 100 acres on "Cane Cr. waters of Reedy River"in 1842. Borders Andrew Burnside, etc. Deed Q-15, 1851, S. C. Thomas sells 1 acre to Menoah McPherson. Deed mentions "store house". Formerly Michael Burts, Mabra Madden, and W. A. Fowler. Bordered Michael Burtz, W. A. Fowler, and Mt. Pleasant Church. Deed O-16, 1851, S. C. Thomas to Menoah McPherson, tract purchased by me from Wade A. Fowler, formerly John Fowler, dec. Borders Wiley Y. ? Fowler, Wade A. Fowler, and Michael Burts. Deed Q-232, 1859, has W. D. Johnson mortgaging a 1 acre lot and house to Davenport McPherson. Located Long Lick of Mount Pleasant. Borders Noah McPherson, Wade A. Fowler. Lot where W. D. Johnson has carriage manufacture. Deed U-98, 1874, Wm. F. Henderson sold 47 acres to N. F. McPherson. Borders Mt. Pleasant Ch., W. A. Fowler, and L. G. Ball. (I do not know who N. F. McPherson is, or if I copied the name wrong. It is easy to confuse the old script T and F. There is an N. T. McPherson on the 1883 map very close to Mt. Pleasant Ch. McPhersonville Post Office is shown adjacent to N. T. McPherson. My notes show an M. McPherson as postmaster in 1860). ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard A. Lorenz" <ralorenz@comcast.net> To: "Richard A. Hello, I need some help, I found this Mincha McPherson in the 1850 census and 1860 census, does anyone know who his dad was? Brenda McPherson Compton Descendants of Descendants of Mincha McPherson Generation No. 1 1. Mincha1 McPherson was born 1822 in Laurens County, South Carolina. He married Nancy Teague, daughter of Abner Teague and Millie Gary. She was born 1818 in Mount PLeasant, Laurens County, South Carolina. Children of Mincha McPherson and Nancy Teague are: 2 i. L2 McPherson, born 1856. 3 ii. Laura L. McPherson, born 1854. 4 iii. L.R. McPherson, born 1861. 5 iv. M.A. McPherson, born 1866. Thomas Gary, Esq. was mentioned first in S.C., 27 Dec. 1754, when he purchased, from John Pitts, 200 acres on Bush River for one hundred fifty pounds. Thomas Gere had a warrant for 100 acres on Saludy River and Bushy Fork, 6 June 1758; One for 200 acres in Berkley Co. and 88 acres in Berkley Co., 7 Nov. 1758. Thomas Gary and Charles Gary lived in a small community on bush River. John Pearson wrote concerning the Indians: "In short they have burned and destroyed all up Bush River, except Jacob Brooks where there are some people gathered together to stand in their own defense." Those who signed the petition asking relief against the Indian depredations were: Charles and Thomas Gary, date Journal of the Council 1755. The Gary's settled on the line between Laurens and Newberry counties, from Stub entries to Indents issued in payment of claims against S.C. growing out of the Revolution. Thomas Gary was granted four indents, probably for three of the name who served or furnished supplies. Thomas Gary for eight pounds nine shillings and eight pence for provisions supplied the Militial in 1782. Thomas Gary and his wife were among the earliest members of Bush River Baptist Church, however, they are buried in a private cemetery on the original Thomas Gary home place, as recited by the sons, John Newman and Samuel, when they sold the original home place on the line of Laurens and Newberry Co., SC. Two parts to my son, Charles Gary, and Thomas Gary to take care of him and maintain him during his lifetime and Thomas Gary to have what remains of his estate at his demise. (Perhaps Martha and Charles were incapicated.) I desire the other eleven parts to be equally divided between my other eleven children, viz: Elizabeth Williams, Thomas Gary, Anne Williams, Amery Teague, William Gary, John Gary, Rebecca Gary, Elizabeth Gary, Numan Gary, Samuel Gary and Sarah Gary. I desire my sons, Numan and Samuel Gary, shall have my lands and plantation in part of their estate, each one to receive their part when of age or marry and if anyone dies before being of age, their part to be equally divided between them that live. Only Martha and Charles' part to be as above mentioned; Ex. Thomas Gary, Jr., son-in-law, Abner Teague, and son-in-law, Providence Williams; wit. Dorthy, Israel and Joshua Teague." Deed Book Y, page 229, 1883, has Rhoda Kennedy estate surveyed. Designated Tract #3, 449 acres, to make 4 tracts of 110 1/2 acres each. Plat is included, with northern boundary having direction of North 84 1/2 degrees East. I did not copy down any other details. A small amount of the tract is on the east side of the road that goes from Poplar Springs Church to Laurens. J. O. Fleming adjoins that eastern boundary. N. D. Kennedy is shown on the south. I drew this tract on my modern topographical map located about 1 mile south of Pop. Spr. Ch. The 1883 map of Laurens Co. shows J. O. C. Flemings property at about this location, but shows "Kennedy's Est. at about 1.5 miles south of Pop. Spr. Ch. M. O. Kennedy is shown about 3 miles south of Pop. Spr. Ch. on the west side of the road. The 1865 Tax Records show C. M. Kennedy with 510 acres, Capt. N. O. with 450 acres, Mrs. Leana Est. with 450 acres, and Nancy Kennedy with 70 acres. The above deed suggests that Roda Kennedy owned at least 3 tracts of land, and that there were probably 4 heirs to his estate. Is this correct? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard A. Several Coats/Coate/Coates families lived throughout the US. Were they related at all? A special effort is being made to test those who might help us find that missing link. New connections made daily! To find out, we need to get more male descendants of Coates/Coats/Coate to take the Y chromosome (DNA) test. Three of my Coats line have taken it (It takes about 10 seconds to swab the inside of your cheek; then it must be mailed to the lab), and lo, we are related, plus we have about ten new, distant relatives. The problem is that there as yet are many branches in this family that would help us solve many family connections, so the links to the other relatives are as yet unknown and the kinship may be back 100s of years! So we need more males to take the test! Only males can participate in the Y Chrom projects, but as long as he is a Coates/Coats/Coate from your line he can take the test for those who are not Coates/Coats/Coate surnamed. This is becoming the resource of first choice for the beginner or seasoned genealogist, so why not add your family line now! Why we do it ! The Y chromosome is passed from father to son unchanged, except for a mutation about every 500 generations. Testing the Y chromosome will provide you with a genetic finger print consisting of 12 or 37 numbers. By comparing this finger print to others with your surname, you can determine if they are related. The objectives of Surname Projects vary. Here are a few: * Identify others who are related * Prove or disprove theories regarding ancestors * Solve brick walls in your research * Determine a location for further research * Validate existing research Often a Surname Project has multiple objectives, and the objectives may even change over the life of the project. Most Surname Projects start with the objective to identify others who are related, and through out the project the other objectives are achieved simply as a result of the project. Current Coates/Coate/Coates males tested, and we have 11 distinct family lines have been identified, plus there are some that have no matches. Test results are posted here: http://www.coatsarchive.us/dna.htm Our Most Wanted DNA lines: http://www.coatsarchive.us/DNAmostwanted.htm For more info regarding the Coats/Coate/Coates DNA tests, go to: http://www.coatsarchive.us/dna.htm Charlotte Coats Coats DNA Project Admin -- Always Remember: Without documentation, genealogy is mythology!
