    3. Some general information about Mahons. The Laurens County Scrapbook, page 73: "Ben Neighbors, J. Deweese, and Northcutt preached a long time at a stand near Bailey Mahon before Raburn's Creek Church was organized". Deed Book P, page 16, 1845, has Eugene Brevard of Camden selling 4 acres to Bailey Mayhon, Thos. Gradon, and Drury Boyce. Rabun Creek Baptist Church is mentioned. I believe that the 3 recipients were trustees of the Church. The Treeclimber, 11-4 page 74, reprints information from the Greenville Daily News, Sat. Aug 26, 1876, Laurens Co. items. "Thomas Mahon, a highly respected citizen, aged 70 years, died at his home on Rabun's Creek on Wednesday 23rd inst.". The 1883 map shows a T. Mahon living near Rabon Church. I don't know if there are any records surviving from this church. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard A. 3. Robert Mahon is a possibility for the father of the 3. He is in the 1840 census record, page 74, line 26, age 20-30. There is also 1 female age 15-20, and 2 males age 0-5. Most of my records are census and deeds (1829-1880). I do not see a Joseph, but there are several property records for Robert C. Mahon and for Bailey Mahon. There is a family "Mayhon" shown on the 1820 map of Laurens Co. located in Sullivans Township (western part of the county. I will give you 2 property records, but there are more. Deed Book N, page 152, 1836, has Bailey Mayhorn selling 112 acres in the Rabon Cr. watershed to Robert C. Mayhorn. Original Land Grant of 600 acres to John Cogdell. Borders Bailey Mayhorn and a big road. Deed O-18, 1840, has Bailey Mahon selling 43 acres in Reedy River watershed to Robert C. Mahon. There is a Bailey Mahon in the 1830 census on page 223, line 27, age 50-60. All of the above census , property, and map locations are roughly in the same geographic vicinity. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ann Hill" <annh2@ev1.net> To: <SCLAUREN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 10, 2006 2:04 AM Subject: RE: [SCLAUREN] Mahon/Bolt > Thanks for the messages. 3. Thanks for the messages. I am wanting to find out who John D Mahon, Thomas B. Mahon and Susan B. Mahon's parents were. I find reference to several "elder Mahons" in the area: Bailey and Joseph being two. The parents were both deceased by 1850. The youngest child Susan was born about 1843. John D. Mahon born 1836 was a Baptist Minister. He died in Union Co in 1910. Thomas B Mahon married Harriett Hodges. No record of Susan's marriage, if any. I was hoping there was a Will or at least some guardianship papers but so far have not found any. -----Original Message----- From: Katherine Hope Borges [mailto:kvjjmmborges@msn.com] Sent: Saturday, September 09, 2006 10:59 PM To: SCLAUREN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [SCLAUREN] Mahon/Bolt Hi Ann, John Bolt (Esq) is the father of Susan Bolt who married John Mahon. 3. My census notes show a Nathanial Robinson in the 1810 census, age 26-45. In those days Robinson and Robertson were essentially interchangeable in the census records. He lived very roughly 3 miles southwest of Waterloo, I believe. This location is in the opposite end of the county from Warrior Creek. The Union County Land Grant maps show both a John and a Wm. Robertson with land grants near Drury Smith, all around the 1790s. There is a Wm. Dorroh in the 1800 census living in still another location in the county. No Robertsons lived near this location in either 1800 or 1810 as far as I can tell. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Freda Noble" <tnoble@mcn.org> To: <SCLAUREN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 09, 2006 9:00 PM Subject: [SCLAUREN] Robertson/Roberson/Robinson and Blakely > When researching my Robertson family in Pine Apple last year, I found the > book, "Abstracts of Early Records of Laurens County South Carolina, > 1785-1820." 3. There were 2 deeds in 1872 involving a Susan B. Mahon. This could be the daughter that you mentioned. Deed Book T, page 63, 1872, has the Sheriff conveying 71 acres to Susan B. Mahon. Fi Fa suit of John D. Williams vs. Wm. Bolt. Land borders Downs Barksdale and homestead of Wm. Bolt. (My notes are not clear about whether the land bordered Wm. Bolt or was actually the land of Wm. Bolt being conveyed). Deed T-65, 1872, Sheriff conveys 47 acres to Susan B. Mahon. The land borders the homestead of Sam'l. Bolt and Yancy Hellams. I do not know the reason for the suits. I believe that both pieces of land are in the Lick Creek watershed, about 1.5 miles SSW of Barksdale. Not certain about the location. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ann Hill" <annh2@ev1.net> To: <SCLAUREN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 09, 2006 6:28 PM Subject: [SCLAUREN] Mahon/Bolt > Researching families of JOHN D MAHON and JOHN BOLT. > > JOHN BOLT's daughter Susan married JOHN MAHON.
