If you sent an e-mail with information or questions in the past couple of days, please re-send the information. I am sorry for any troubles this may have caused. I guess that will teach me to not update my virus files (which I have since done). Thank you for your time! Heather Logan

    2. Peter Selph/Kathy Duncan
    3. All: While we are in the lull between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I'd like to take a moment to remind every one of a few things. First, let me say that this is a wonderful list. Every one has always been courteous and helpful here. Flaming has never been a problem. Between now and the end of January lots of people will be getting new computers and getting on the internet for the first time. We tend to forget that because so many of us have been here for so long. They will be new to computers and list etiquette, and some of them will be new to genealogy research. Please be patient and helpful with these people. Remember that at one time we were all new to this. As you are posting your queries, give more information than just the Laurens County surnames you are researching. Giving specific names and dates will help you to receive a response. If you email someone and they do not respond as quickly as you would like, remember that this time of year everyone is busy and stressed out. They will respond as soon as they can. If you don't hear from someone, a gentle nudge several days later may help. Enjoy your research and your holidays, Kathy Duncan list owner

This ongoing, longtime effort is that of Herman Geschwin and the Old Pendleton District Chapter of the SCGS. It now contains information on over 296,000 individuals and more than 101,000 families with roots in the Old Pendleton District of South Carolina. OPD shared common borders with many SC, NC and GA counties as may be seen in this map http://jrshelby.com/opdcd/opd.jpg For more info on the cd, see http://jrshelby.com/opdcd/ which provides links to the OPDC/SCGS. 3. Posted on: Laurens Co. SC Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/SC/Laurens/195 Surname: Logan, Loggan, Craig, Hanna, Templeton, Adair ------------------------- Hello! I am looking for information on the Logan and Craig families of Laurens County. Thomas and Mary Logan (Loggan) arrived in the port of Charleston in January of 1768, and were given land in Craven County (which later became Laurens County). I know that Mary was still there in 1808, but may have been a widow. Family lore says that Thomas lived to the age of 105, but there is no proof. This Logan family lived on Duncan's Creek and attended the Duncan Creek Presbyterian Church, where Thomas was installed as one of the original elders of the church. Thomas and Mary had two sons, John and William, that traveled from Ireland with them. They may have had a daughter, Jane, after their arrival here, and I'm hoping to find if there are more children. Jane married William Craig, and she and her family are buried at the cemetery next to the church. About 1800, a group of families left the area and came to what is now Indiana. The families included Adair, Templeton, and Hanna families among others. Any information on my lineor allied lines is appreciated! Heather Logan [email protected]

SC Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/SC/Laurens/190 Surname: White, Chapman, Baize, Brown, Lindsey, Logsdon, Snodgrass, Daugherty ------------------------- My gggGrandfather, Willis Chapman, is supposedly from Laurens County, South Carolina, being born there in about 1775. His father, who we think might have been Shadrack Chapman, was supposedly from Sumpter County. I have a story that tells of William and his brother James and it ties in my Willis. They all moved to Ohio County, Kentucky in the late 1700s. Willis moved on to Missouri, William ended up in Texas and James moved to Indiana. Anyone researching the Chapmans from South Carolina?(besides me) I could use a boost to my endeavors. Thanks. Phil
