    1. [SCLAUREN] No More Virus!
    2. Tamara Smith
    3. Thanks to those of you who sent me advice on the virus. Luckily, I realized I had it within minutes of getting it and was able to get rid of it within the same hour last night. The catch is I had not shut my computer off after getting it. Had I shut it off and rebooted this morning, I would have sent it to all of you fine people. Your system has to be restarted to begin the process of sending it out to people in your mailbox. With the help of McAfee.com VirusScan (and a little knowledge myself) I killed that worm before he even got started! A WORD FROM THE WISE: Don't be suckered into opening attachments on rootsweb (or anywhere else for that matter), no matter how harmless they look. I did it and didn't even think twice about it and look what I got in return! It could have been worse. If the woman that I got it from had not been on the internet at the time to respond to me and tell me that she didn't send me anything, I would have shut down and gone to bed as usual. I was lucky and caught it before it caught me, though I was up until 3AM running Virus Scans and making SURE that I had successfully deleted it. Now, if you need to respond to me concerning Lower Duncan's Creek Baptist Church, please do.-Tamara [email protected]

    1. [SCLAUREN] Hanna(h)/McMahon of Duncan Creek
    2. Linda Hillary Hannah
    3. Posted on: Laurens Co. SC Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/SC/Laurens/10248 Surname: Adair, Hanna, Hannah, McMahon, Templeton ------------------------- Dear Laurens Co. researchers, We have just found on an 1824 court doc. that the Anna married to William Hanna(h/2 is really Hannah McMahon. She must have changed her name to Anna at marriage because she signs "Anna" on everything after marriage. She is the sister of Mary McMahon Carwile, Martha McMahon Hamilton, John, Nancy and James who died intestate that is what the suit was all about. Write me if you need details. So now we have to find the mother of William/2 the son of Wm./1 and ??. The earliest date we have for Wm./1 is that he helped build the Duncan Creek Presby. Church in 1763/66. He is on the 1790 census with Wm./2 But that is about all we have on him. We don't know if he emigrated to Charleston as poor Protestant Scots-Irish or came down the Great Wagon Way from PA with his parents possibly from Chester Co. PA. Or was he born on a stop of his parents in Lincoln, NC as some have suggested. Any help would be appreciated. We also now have to find the parents of the McMahon siblings. I will be happy to exchange information. Thanks, Linda in Albuquerque

    2. Tamara Smith
    3. Thank you all for responding so quickly! However, this is not the same church as Duncan's Creek Presbyterian Church.. I have been to that church. The church I am talking about is no longer standing, but its cemetery is still there. It is a Baptist church. There was a Lower and an Upper Duncan's Creek Church. I think the Upper is in Newberry County, yet it is not too far away. My grandfather, Micajah Bennett was the pastor there in the 1790's. Sorry for the confusion. When I sent the email to the list, I had forgotten about the Presbyterian church. Thanks again!-Tamara [email protected]

    3. Does anyone have any information on Lower Duncan's Creek Church and cemetery? I am looking specifically for church or cemetery records for the late 1700's and early 1800's, but any general information about the church would be good too. I am interested in the Micajah Bennett and John McCoy families that were in the Duncan's Creek area at that time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks-Tamara [email protected]

    1. [SCLAUREN] Neely-Young
    2. ShaLamont
    3. I recall someone writing about surname Neely on the list a few days ago. I have been reviewing my Young files and had forgotten that one of my Youngs, Nancy Young, d/o Robert and Rebecca Young, had married Joseph Neely in Laurens area. The marriage would have been before 1810. Nancy had siblings: Margaret m. William Philips, Rebecka m. Chiles, James, William, Samuel. Nancy's father Robert Young (referred to in his will dated Oct. 15, 1810, as Robert Sr.) was the son of Robert and Agnes Crockett Young of Augusta Co., VA. Robert died in 1762, Agnes bought 200 acres in what would become Laurens Co. in 1766 and the last mention of Agnes in Chalkley is 1770. I have a LOT of Young info to share on other children of Robert and Agnes and Robert's brother Hugh. 3. My computer has a virus! Don't open any attachments from me until further notice. The viruses are INETD.EXE and KERN32.EXE. Run a find file and delete them NOW! If you have a virus checker, make sure it is up to date and it will tell you the best way to get rid of the virus. I tried to open a file and it said file corrupt so it didn't open...so I thought I was safe. When I started my computer this morning, it started sending messages with attachments out to everyone in my inbox - addresses not even in may address book. This is BAD. So sorry! Fred PS has anyone wondered why all so many of the rootsweb lists are sending out a scheduled down time message from February 28th!?!

    3. Posted on: Laurens Co. SC Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/SC/Laurens/10246 Surname: Boyd, Burnett, Forgy, Goddard, Pinson ------------------------- April 20, 1821 There is a WILLIAM GODDARD who attended and Estate Sale with Daniel Goddard. There are several mentions of William Goddard with Daniel Goddard in the book LAURENS COUNTY, SC WILLS - 1784- 1840. Other GODDARDS mentioned are George Goddard, David Goddard. There is a good possibility that these Goddards may have been brothers. The wife you mentioned by the name of GOTHARD, may be her married name. In the 1850 census for Laurens Co., SC. GODDARD was spelled GOTHARD. I believe the father of DANIEL GODDARD may have been HENRY YOUNG GODDARD who died in 1869 in Laurens Co., SC. Daniel Goddard's oldest son, John Evan Goddard, born 1838 was the Executor of HENRY YOUNG GODDARD'S estate. I have a WILLIAM E. GODDARD b. 1842. Not sure this is a great deal of help to you, but those are the only Goddard I have that MIGHT fit your research.

    1. [SCLAUREN] Re: Hopewell Ch. & Entrekins
    2. Hopewell is about 2 miles southwest of Joanna. The Entrekins lived very roughly about 2 miles northeast of Joanna. Do you know anything about Messer Entrekin (born about 1795) and James G. Entrekin (born 1826)? Richard Lorenz

    1. [SCLAUREN] Hopewell Methodist Church Cemetary
    2. Philip Entrekin
    3. Does anyone know of the location of an abandoned cemetary for the Hopewell Methodist Church? My understanding is that there is a current one about 5 miles east of Joanna. However, the one I am looking for would be farther east, is abandoned and probably on private property. Supposedly John Entrekin (1736-1820) and his oldest son, Thomas Entrekin (1759-1839) are buried there. Thomas was a Rev War Vet. phil entrekin
