    1. [SCLAUREN] Searching for family
    2. Looking for any information on ancestors. This is new for me. My father was born Bobbie Joe Culbertson, Oct 22, 1932. I am also looking for any information on Creed Katen who died in a fire in possibly Spartanburg, SC around 1959, this would be my grandfather. My father was a warm loving man and I would love to find out more about the people he came from. Thanks for any help, Diane I posted other queries but made the mistake of putting them in Anderson, SC.

    2. The Nickles and Nichols both do. There was a Nickles bakery that delivered bread and rolls to your doorway back in the Good ole days. When the truck came on Saturdays, we used to all get together and he would bring in his guitar and we would sing and he supplied the sweet rolls. Those were the days, but I was just a kid back then and Mom used to tell us the name was one of our relation. She never quite said how, so there I am still lost. Oh, for the good old days on a frosty saturday moring.

    1. [SCLAUREN] Re: Robert, William and John Duncan
    2. I don't know if this means anything but my mother was a Duncan and I am researching the family. In Pontotoc, Miss. there was a drygoods store named Henderson & Duncan. I don't know a date. Thomas Lane Duncan, son of a John Duncan, moved to Pontotoc from Hardeman, Tenn. The Duncan's lived in Va., probably the Carolinas, Tenn, maybe Ala. then Miss. I don't have all of the dates straight but there was John, Thomas Lane, John F.(my great, great, grandfather, his son Pitser Miller Duncan (not sure of spelling of Pitser), Charles Hickman, then my mother Mattie Pearl Duncan. If you think there is any connection e-mail me - [email protected] I am trying to obtain additional information on the Duncans in Pontotoc, Miss.

    2. Could someone please tell me the source of the name Laurens as applies to the county? I will need to know how that can be documented also. I am new to this list, descended from Joseph Couch, Nelson and Reuben Kelley, John Alvin Bramblett, William Griffin and daughter Franky who married William McTeer, probably John and Phebe Flewellyn Garrett. I would like to hear from anyone who shares my interest in one of these lines. Carolyn Odle Smotherman

    1. [SCLAUREN] Re: Mrs. Kate GOODGION
    2. My husband is James Ellis Goodgion, III, his father is James Ellis Goodgion, Jr. (born in Ruston, LA), and his father was James Ellis Goodgion, SR. (born in Maury Co., TN). We think Mr. Goodgion SR. had several brothers born in TN. One brother (James Ellis) went to LA with his mother and 1 brother came to TX. Mr. Goodgion, SR's father Wm., we think, was a Tory and had to go back to England after the war, but left his family in America. He also lost his 700+ acres of land he owned. My husband and I, as well as his father, lived in CO several years, so we may have met you at some time. Jim still has 2 brothers and a sister living in CO. How are you related to my husband's side of the family? We haven't been able to find the documentation as to where the family originated (England or France). Thanks.

    2. Hi, According to my research, I show a Samuel Proctor b. in Belfast, Ireland, and his son, Samuel Proctor, b. April 2, 1713 in Derriaghy, North Ireland. I'm showing that both of them died in Laurens County, SC. The younger Samuel's Son Phillip was born in 1756 in Ireland, married Margaret/Jane Caldwell, and had my grgrgrgrandfather John Proctor who ended up moving his family to Jackson County, TN in the late 1700's. Are one of these the same Samuel Proctor you are referring too in your previous post? Please email me and lets compare notes! Thanks!
