    2. Anyone who cares, I have been "into" genealogy since 1986. I continue to be amazed at the number of researchers who who live in a County and never tell you what State they are in. And the number of people who live in a city and never tell you what County or State they are in. Example: "I live in St. Clair and have relatives in Jefferson County" You are left to guess what State either place is in. Also the frequent use of the words "her'", "his" "theirs" when nowhere in the context is there a connector to hint at who they are talking about. An example would be: John Sr had a son John Jr and his ....." You are left to guess whether the "his" refers to Sr or Jr . The computer services are also not without blame: When asked for an "ID", one service offers '[email protected]' (41 characters) which, if I paste into the keyword box, I get a commercial for Otelco I am 71 years old, and I do not have a college education, but I do know how to spell. :>) I can 'read' between the lines to see the difference between 'to' and 'too' and between 'no' and 'know', but if you choose to refer to Jefferson County, I would really like to 'know" what State you are refering 'to'. 1. Re: [SCLAUREN] Finding Marriage records in Laurens Co...??
    2. Cay Devin
    3. Bruce, Thank you that¹s a good idea.. The question was actually two fold.. 1. I really did want to know a source for these records.. Someone was kind enough to tell me that there is a book out entitled ³7500 Marriages from Ninety-Six and Abbeville District, SC, 1771-1890² that might help but my names were not in the book.. so if anyone else has the name of a source for Laurens Co SC marriage records I would love to get the name of that source. 2. My specific names are all in this family.... I¹ve listed the approximate date for each marriage in Laurens Co. Theophilus Goodwin and Nancy Bramblett around 1791 And some of their children.. Solomon Goodwin and Nicy around 1816 Thomas Goodwin and Margaret Smith around 1819 Temperance Goodwin and Theophilus Parsons around 1820 Sanford Goodwin and ?? Around 1820 Rebecca Goodwin and James McCarty around 1823 Joshua Richard Goodwin and Sarah "Sally" (Farrar?) around 1829 (my ggggp¹s) Milbery Goodwin and John Smith.. Around 1830.. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me on these marriages... Thank you, Cay Devin [email protected] On 3/31/02 6:53 PM, "Bruce Smith" <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi > > I'm not sure but I think that SC did not have marriage records until about > 1920.
