Hello. I'm hoping someone can help me find either the historian (if there is one) or the pastor of the Dials Methodist Church. Either an address or a phone number would be very helpful. We have twice been there, but found no one at the premises. A cousin also tried, without success. We have ancestors buried there and hope to find church admission records and/or sponsorship records. I received a message which said John Kelly was on the 1795 taxlist of Laurens Co, SC. Is this list on the internet or has it been published? Thanks, Carolyn Smotherman

Someone asked me how I determine living locations from the census records. There is no direct way of doing this. I have worked off and on for 20 years learning how to do this. Am about 80% successful for 1830-1880, and less precise for 1790-1810. Have used maps, deeds, books, etc. and compared neighbors from one census to another. A copy of my work is in the Laurens Co. Library. Will put out a new version for the library next year, maybe. It is too bulky to publish, and really not ready for "prime time". Richard Lorenz
The only Equity Court Records that I have are some that I indexed from some of the Treeclimbers. I do not have any such records for John Lindley, John Cole, or Harris Mitchel. I have a Harrison/Harris Mitchel in census records: 10 yrs in 1850, 28 in '70, and 39 in '80. This person appears to be a son of David and Lucy Mitchel. Richard Lorenz
If your family migrated from Laurens, SC to either Marshall, Blount, Jefferson, Morgan Counties in N. AL or a neighboring county during the period from 1815 - 1850 would you please write to me at [email protected] and give me the family names, the county name where they settled, and the reason for their moving? I would like to know why the move was made if you have that information. Please be as brief as possible. I expect a great deal of mail on this. Thanks, Jan

I don't have access to the Laurens Burying Grounds and Cemeteries, Vol II, so I wonder if I can get a friendly person to do a lookup for me. I need the dates checked as well, plus if any other Eichelbergers are in the cemetery, I'd like to know. The dates I have for Maj Eichelberger are abt. 1810-September 15 1896. Leonora Emma Long (Eichelberger) is 2/28/1818-1/12/1894. During the Civil War, Maj Eichelberger owned the house in Laurens now known as the Simpson house. He bought the house in 1849 and sold it in 1870 to William Dunlop Simpson, later Gov of SC. Thank you so very much... Sandra Eichelberger

I now have a Wright website at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/wright.html *To see the Laurens Co., SC connection - see the Jacob Wright link from the above. It is believe that my Wright line migrated in mid to late 1760's from Frederick Co., VA to the Old 96, Laurens Co., SC district. AFter Jacob died in 1794, the family migrated to Washingotn Co., KY and later to Barren/Warren/Simpson Co., KY. Also, Very interested in the BAUGH, BOX, and WATERS families of this area! In fact, if your family name or someone you recognize is on the Jacob Wright website - please drop me a line. There is also a gedcom associated with these families. http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown5 My line is from George Wright Sr and Susannah ?, Jacob Wright and Elizabeth ?, Williiam Wright and Frances 'Fanny' Campbell, Philemon Wright and Charity ?, Granville Lafayette Wright and Esther Malinda Donahoo, and Caroline Wright and William Meridith Vinson. They went from PA - Frederick Co., VA - Laurens (Old 96), SC - Barren/Warren/Simpson Co., KY - Henry/Benton Co., TN - Tishomingo/Prenstiss Co., MS - Randolph Co., AR. *This is a combined work of several of us working together - searching to find the facts! Please let me know of any additions, corrections, etc. Ann (Jobe) Brown [email protected]
My census notes show a Ransom Fuller in census of 1820, 1829, and 1830. The 1820 location is near Waterloo or Cross Hill, while the 1830 census location is in the Sullivan Township vicinity, I believe. The 1829 census shows a family of 10. No ages or sex given in 1829. The number 10 might be a mistake because the entries just before and after also list families of 10. Deed Book M, page 35, 1827, shows that Dendy Motes sold 71 acres on Cane Creek to Joshua Teague. It is described as part of a tract sold by Sheriff as property of Ransom Fuller. I have a later property record for Ransom but I have temporarily misplaced it. TreeClimber Vol 6-2 page 8 indexes an Equity Court record No. 5, 1829. It mentions John D. Boyd vs. Abraham Boyd, William Boyd, and others including "Sally wife of Ranson Fuller". This suggests to me that Sally may have been a Boyd. Richard Lorenz
I'm looking for a possible connection to the SC FULLER family. My gg grandfather, Middleton F. FULLER, was born in AL (probably Conecuh County) about 1827. Using census records as a basis for my theory, his parents were William and Sarah FULLER. William FULLER was born about 1779 in SC and Sarah (maiden name unknown) was born about 1797 in GA. I believe that William and Sarah FULLER also had a son, Ransom, born about 1826 in AL. William FULLER appears to have moved into Conecuh County, AL 1810 - 1820. In looking at the early SC FULLER families I find a Ransom FULLER in Laurens County 1820-1830. I am wondering if there is a connection between the Laurens County FULLER family and the FULLERs that moved from SC to AL. Any help in solving this mystery will be greatly appreciated. Barry Fox

His name was Lewis and I am not sure of his surname. It could have been either Zachariah/Zacharius or George. He married Mary, not sure of last name but could have been George, around 1830. They moved to Jefferson Co area in AL about 1833? He had a land grant from service in the war of 1812. When they moved to AL, his last name was George. But there is a family story that one of our male ancestors was born with the last name Zachariah. He changed it to George at the request of his father in law when they married because there were no male heirs. The story about how Lewis and Mary came to AL is the same as the family story, so I am almost sure it was Lewis who was born a Zachariah. I can not find a Lewis Zachariah or Lewis George in Laurens SC. So I am looking for someone who may have the same story and can fill in the blanks. Thank You I appreciate any help you can offer.
