I have read the previous posts and have some things to share. My husband's grandfather, William Raleigh Self, wrote a book of his life history for his family. it has helped my search and I hope it will help in others. William Seaborn Self married Janie Hopkins around 1903 (quoting the book on that date). They had a baby boy who died just after his birth. They then had Luther Etta (married a man first name Hoyt) Raleigh (my husband's grandfather) Leroy Ada Mae Viola LV Virginia (lived to be three years old) I am new to this search so forgive my lack of dates and married names. This account that Raleigh has written bears no account of Ella Rowell, I do not know why this was left out. My father in law has a picture of William Seaborn with a white haired lady (not Janie) so maybe that is her in his picture. We are looking for information on William Thomas and Armenta Estridge (who, in the book is referred to as Arabella). It is said that they are both buried at Flat Creek Church Cemetery. The book accounts for eleven children for William Thomas and Armenta... washington Ezell (married a Lottie) Seaborn Levy Edgar Benny Wesley Martha Ruth Bessie Docia I read a previous post that states they had fourteen children, I do not know why Raleigh left these out. I read that Ella is buried at Thorn Hill. Thron Hill is mentioned briefly in his book, around 1928. I could go on and on with stories form his book. That is the farthest back the names go on the Self side. he talks a little about the Hopkins side. Anyhow, I hope I am not rambling. If you have any information not mentioned here or in previous posts in this thread please email me with it. I would appreciate it very mcuh. God bless! Kelly
Hosea Scott was born about 1811 in Lancaster/Kershaw area. He had a half brother named Timothy Stroud and supposedly an other half brother by the name of Hopkins. Upon their mother's death they were indentured to the Douglas' of Camden. This is the story as I was told, I have been unable to locate any proof. Any help would be appreciated. TIA
