Kelly, I do have a little information on both the Self and Estridge families. I do not have all the children for William Seaborn Self and Janie Hopkins as you do; I would like to get more information from you on these people. I have Luther C. Self with his wife Myrtle who had three daughters: Virginia born March 14, 1924; Pearlean born July 21, 1926; and Mary Edith born Jan 26, 1928. If you will contact me off line at AGNorris@infoave.net I can put you in touch with Edith and her husband. They have helped me greatly on this line. I do have Ada Mae born Jun 13, 1915 who married John David Gladden; they are both deceased buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Great Falls, SC. They had two daughters. On the 1880 Lancaster County Census I found William Thomas Self and his wife Mary living with his parents. His father was William Self born 1835 in SC and the mother was listed as Mary born 1839 in SC. 1880 Flat Creek, Lancaster County, SC William Self age 45 born in SC Mary Self wife age 41 born in SC Thomas Self son age 20 born in SC Arminta Self DauL age 15 born in SC George Self son age 18 born in SC John Self son age 16 born in SC Stephen Self son age 14 born in SC Elizabeth Self dau age 12 born in SC Nancy Self dau age 10 born in SC Mary Self dau age 8 born in SC Martha Self dau age 5 born in SC I have William Thomas Self married to Margaret Armenta Estridge born 1865 a daughter of William Washington Estridge and his wife Susan Todd Estridge. They had a son William Jarrett Ezell Estridge born Dec 29, 1854 he died Apr 27, 1934 he married Sarah Alberta Adams born May 10, 1852 in Monroe, NC she died Oct 10, 1944 both buried at Smyrna United Methodist Church, Medlin Road, Monroe, NC. William Jarrett Ezell and Sarah Alberta had two children: William Mack Estridge born May 11, 1884 he married Martha A. Knight they had four children; Arzenia Estridge born Feb 16, 1892 married Joseph Knight they had seven children. Aunt Ella is buried at Thorn Hill in a family plot along with her father Jim and a sister and brother-in-law. If you can scan and post the picture I should be able to tell if it is Aunt Ella. I knew her when I was a child in Great Falls; I also have a few pictures of Aunt Ella. I have read the previous posts and have some things to share. My husband's grandfather, William Raleigh Self, wrote a book of his life history for his family. it has helped my search and I hope it will help in others. William Seaborn Self married Janie Hopkins around 1903 (quoting the book on that date). They had a baby boy who died just after his birth. They then had > Luther > Etta (married a man first name Hoyt) > Raleigh (my husband's grandfather) > Leroy > Ada Mae > Viola > LV > Virginia (lived to be three years old) > > I am new to this search so forgive my lack of dates and married names. This account that Raleigh has written bears no account of Ella Rowell, I do not know why this was left out. My father in law has a picture of William Seaborn with a white haired lady (not Janie) so maybe that is her in his picture. > > We are looking for information on William Thomas and Armenta Estridge (who, in the book is referred to as Arabella). It is said that they are both buried at Flat Creek Church Cemetery. The book accounts for eleven children for William Thomas and Armenta... > washington > Ezell (married a Lottie) > Seaborn > Levy > Edgar > Benny > Wesley > Martha > Ruth > Bessie > Docia > > I read a previous post that states they had fourteen children, I do not know why Raleigh left these out. I read that Ella is buried at Thorn Hill. Thron Hill is mentioned briefly in his book, around 1928. I could go on and on with stories form his book. That is the farthest back the names go on the Self side. he talks a little about the Hopkins side. Anyhow, I hope I am not rambling. If you have any information not mentioned here or in previous posts in this thread please email me with it. I would appreciate it very mcuh.
