The following may be of interest to Lancaster researchers of the following surnames HARPER, KERN, FUNDERBURK, TOMLINSON, CRAIG, HEATH, ANDERSON, WARE, RUSSELL, HUNTER LETZINGER, ADAMS, SHAFNAL?? CRAWFORD I thought I would post these as they contain information to other names beyond those I'm researching. They were taken from a book entitled Abstracts of Deeds B (Old) - Lancaster Co. SC Vol. 1, Nat#393275. I didn't write down the publishing date (believe it was 1920's, 30's) but if I am violating any copyright laws by posting this please let me know at [email protected], as there are several others I have and would like to post. Also, let me know if this type of information is not needed/wanted for the list. The page numbers listed in the Subject line above are from the book itself. The page numbers below were noted in the text. pg # not noted Waters of Wild Cat now this indenture witnesseth that William HARPER for sum of 30 pounds sterling money of said Province paid to him by said Jacob KERN hath sold to said Jacob KERN forever, in his actual possession now being by virtue of a bargain and sale, a tract of land of 100 acres Wm (his mark) HARPER signed sealed & delivered in presence of us John BIBBE Nathaniel BIBBE Memorandum that on 17 day of Jany, 1789 John BIBBE appeared before Jno. CRAIG, J.P. and swore he was present and did see Wm. HARPER sign seal and deliver within Deed to Jacob KERN and that Nathaniel BIBBE was present and did witness the same pages 82 and 82 Feby. 17th 1792 Indenture made 24 September 1791 between John TOMLINSON and Rebekah his wife and Moses HEATHE witnesseth that said John TOMLINSON and Rebekah his wife for sum of 100 pounds sterling sold unto Moses HEATH a tract of land containing 130 acres more or less lying being in SC, in the Waxhaws Settlement, being part of a tract belonging to estate of Robert HOWARD deceased and runs thence across said land 60 chains to a pine in Robert CRAWFORD's line, etc..... it being part of a tract of 490 acres granted to Stephen WHITE in 1754 by his excellancy Matthew ROWAN then Governor of North Carolina. John (his mark) TOMLINSON Rebekah (her mark) TOMLINSON Isaac ANDERSON Thomas WARE John RUSSELL Provd. in Court & Recording pages 82 and 83 April 22, 1789 This indenture made 29th October between Devall Fonderburgh of SC, Lancaster County Planter and Daniel HUNTER of said county and province witnesseth that by a certain grant earing date Feb. 12, 1772 under hand of his excellency Lord Charles Greville Montague Capt. General Governor, etc. over province of SC did give and grant unto Deval Fonderburk a tract of land containing 150 acres situate lying on two branches of Lynches Creek called Otter. Now this is part of said land 75 acres more or less lying on the south side of said Otter Creek and the line to go by the creek adjoined by land of said HUNTER above and by land of Jacob SHAFNALS below and on other side by vacant land. (illegible scribbling) Wm. (his mark) ADAMS John LEBZEN? John BIBBE October 9th Rec'd of Daniel HUNTER the just sum of 50 pounds sterling money be me for the within land and premises Devall FONDERBURK Memorandum that on the 10th day of March 1789 Wm. ADAMS personally appeared before me John CRAIG J.P. of Lancaster County and was duly sworn and that he was present and did see Devall FONDERBURK sign seal and deliver the within Deed unto Daniel HUNTER uses and purpose within mentioned and that John LETZINGER and John BIBBE was present and did witness the same John CRAIG, J.P. page 83 (April 22, 1789) This indenture made 29 October 17 1788 between Devall FONDERBURK of Lancaster County, SC planter and Daniel HUNTER of said county and province, Blacksmith - Witnesseth that said Devall FONDERBURK for sum of 10 shillings sterling paid by Daniel HUNTER hath sold to said Daniel HUNTER a tract of Lynches Creek called Otter Creek adjoining land of said HUNTERS and bounding on land of Jacob SHAFNELS, etc. (can't make out name looks like JanBfrocabl H. Jonburg) Wm. (his mark) ADAMS John LETZINGER John BIBBE Memorandum that on 10 March 1789 William ADAMS appeared before John CRAIG J.P. for Lancaster County and swore that he was present and did see Devall FONDERBURG sign and deliver with Deed to Daniel HUNTER and that John LETZINGER and John BIBBE was present and did witness the same before me.
