    3. In the SC census of 1800, there were two men named William Jones, both over age 45, living in Barnwell, some distance apart. One William Jones, over age 45, had a wife Sarah or Sally. I believe that they are the couple who moved to Amite Co MS ca 1808, and left many identifying records there. The other William Jones, who is usually recorded as "saddler," had a wife Rebecca. Next door to him [and on adjoining lands] lived younger Jones men: Nathaniel Jones, Josiah Jones, and John Jones. This group lived on lands described as "on Little Saltcatchers," or "on Sykes Creek," or "on Three Runs" Earlier records show that William Jones, saddler, and wife Rebecca sold land in the area of Anson Co NC which fell into SC when the state line was run. The land on Camp Creek seems to have fallen into present day Lancaster Co, between the town of Lancaster and the Catawba Indian Land [Waxhaws]. Josiah Jones, for whom no Barnwell land sales are indexed, moved to Clarke Co AL by 1808. Any info on William Jones, the saddler, and his wife Rebecca, and on the younger men Josiah Jones, John Jones, and Nathaniel Jones will be greatly appreciated.
