    1. Re: [SCLANCAS] Mary MILLER MASSEY & Others - 1850 Census

    3. This is again in the thread of Massey exchanges. #1: Eleonore Crespo was sharp enough to pick up an error in an earlier post. I put 28 August 1865 as the marriage date of Andrew and Hannah Jane (Horton) Johnson rather than their daughter Caroline Johnson to William A Biggart. #2: On May 26, 1838 Ezekiah Massey mortgaged to John Vanlandingham 150 acres on both sides of the north prong of Crooked Creek, bounded on the north by lands of the estate of Miss McCardell and William Johnson, on the west by lands of William Johnson, on the south by the south prong of Crooked Creek, on the east by lands of Andrew McIlwaine and the estate of Nancy McCardell. Witnesses: John Isom and Jo. T. Copeland. Proved by John Isom July 21, 1838 before L. Fleming. (Deeds N, 263) This would have been Ezekiah (or Hezekiah) Massey. This land would have been near where Henry Vanlandingham Massey and Mary (Johnson) Massey later resided. Crooked Creek was a branch of Camp Creek. H V Massey was probably the son of Ezekiah. Why was he given the middle name "Vanlandingham"? As I said, I am not kin. But I have made miscellaneous notes on families who lived in the "Lower" Camp Creek and Dry Creek areas where some of my ancestors lived. On 1850 census, he was #192b, Massey, E 60 M. --- ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
