    1. South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind

    3. Julie or anyone else, In your resources, have you come across anything about the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind. I know the school still exists but does not have records from a hundred years ago. I called and they were not helpful at all. My gg-grandfather, James Templeton was a student there. He was deaf. On the 1860 census he is listed as working there. I think his wife he met there. I once read a book about the beginnings of the school and a good portion of the first students were relatives of the woman and her husband who founded the school. We have textbooks of my grandfather with the school's name stamped in them. Does anyone know of a contact person at the institution that would know some history of the place. Templeton is such a popular name in North and South Carolina, just like my maiden name, Dunlap. It has been extremely hard to find out who James' family was. James Templeton was also a popular name. I am hoping that maybe the records for the institution has this information. 1. Lancaster Newspaper
    2. Penny Ladnier
    3. I am looking for someone who can go to the Lancaster Library and look through the local newspaper from the 1870-1880s and look to see if there is an obituary for my g-grandfather. If you can do this, I can provide an exact death date. He was only 16 y.o. when he died. His name is Davis Templeton, possibly Jefferson Davis Templeton. My g-grandmother and Davis married when they were 16 y.o. A few months later, Davis died and my g-grandmother was 2-months pregnant. We have no idea what Davis died from. For someone to die so young, it seems like there would have been something in the newspaper.
