    1. More Hortons and maybe Reeves

    3. Those Hortons were all over Lancaster Co., weren't they? I'm trying to find out anything about Elijah Horton's life there. He was born about 1798 in SC. Married.....somebody. Had a few children, only one of whom I know anything about. We assume the others died, but perhaps not. His first wife must have died because he showed up in Shelby Co., Alabama shortly before 1850 with a second wife, Fannie Reeves, his daughter, Elizabeth from his first marriage, and three children from his second marriage. (The ages are not right for Fannie to be his first wife.) Elijah was in the 1820, 30 and 40 Lancaster Co. census. In 1820 he was the only Horton on page 176. Page 175 was home to Henry, Harburd, Henry C., Isaac, Michael, Sterling, William and William R. Horton. Page 177 had Willie and Jesse. I'd like to see the census again to see who his immediate neighbors were. This was done when I first started researching back in 1986, before I realized the importance of neighbors. I've seen it questioned that his second wife, Fannie's maiden name was Reeves. Fannie and Elijah's son, William's death certificate says his parents were Elijah Horton and Fannie Reeves. That's my only "proof". The Shelby Co., AL census shows Fannie born in Tennessee one year and South Carolina others. Her sisters might have been Margaret, Millie and Emily Reeves. Emily later married a Horton. If they weren't sisters, they were very possibly kin somehow as they were long time neighbors in Shelby Co. Does anyone have a connection to Elijah or Fannie? Who were the parents of either? Siblings? Elijah's first wife and kids? Anything? There are quite a few people working on this line and as far as I know, no one has got past this point. Thanks, Wanda Horton Craft
