John Newton and Nancy Clariada Sarratt Nicholson were in Lancaster in the late 1870's and 1880's. Information is that he owned a hotel in Lancaster. Prior to 1900 they had moved to Kershaw County. John and Nancy's daughter, Belle Nicholson, married John Reed in 1883, and they remained in Lancaster County. Belle and John had at least seven children -- Theo,Lona, Minnie, Emma, John Jr, Katie, and Willie Reed. James Nicholson
