On the 1860 they were at hickory Head, Lancaster County, he was showing age 35, Sarah age 40, Jane age 16; Anny age 15 and Hugh H. age 5. Then on the 1900 Flat Creek Twp of Lancaster County we find Amos Catoe born Dec 1815 age 84 married 40 years Rody Catoe wife born May 1835 age 65 married 40 years she had three children with three living Payne Lawson grandson born Apr 1882 age 18 single. Which daughter does Payne belong to? Annie would be to young, that leaves Jane and Sarah. Do any of you show a connection between your Catoes and the Deason family? I've got a Cader Deason, son of John Deason and Susanah Guinn, and I've always wondered if Cader was a mangling of the name Cato... So far, I've mostly found the Deasons in Union county, occasionally wandering over into Anson, but Cader Deason married a Levena Helton (or maybe Hilton) who was supposed to be from Lancaster County. By the way, if anyone wants to claim Levena Helton, I'd love to find a family to put her in <g>. She was born about 1835, and married Cader in Feb. 1854. I don't understand why Ann would have been too young since she was b. abt. 1845. I couldn't find any hints of those 3 given names (Harriet M., Jane, or Ann) married to a LAWSON with the approx. dates and right counties in NC or SC, so I have no idea there. I forgot to mention that Amos's parents were Jesse CATOE and Esther HINSON according to other dbs I've seen. My db is online in Rootsweb WorldConnect where we upload to, and therefore, Ancestry.com, who bought Rootsweb a few years ago promising to keep it free. Our db is Blackman - Farmer, which has as much info as I've been able to enter so far.
