Dear LuAnn, I have Nichols ancestors. The earliest one that I have information on is William Nichols who was found in records in Nancemond County, Va early on.. His descendents moved on probably through SC to Ga where my gggrandfather was Jonathan Nichols, a Baptist Minister. His sons were Joel (my gggrandfather, also a Baptist minister in Ga and AL). Henry and William. Joel`a daughter, Mary Elizabeth married my gggrandfather, Wingate Jackson, in Lee County, Al. If you are interested in more information on this line send me your personal e-mail and I can share more with you. Polly Clarke

Kelly, I do have a little information on both the Self and Estridge families. I do not have all the children for William Seaborn Self and Janie Hopkins as you do; I would like to get more information from you on these people. I have Luther C. Self with his wife Myrtle who had three daughters: Virginia born March 14, 1924; Pearlean born July 21, 1926; and Mary Edith born Jan 26, 1928. If you will contact me off line at AGNorris@infoave.net I can put you in touch with Edith and her husband. They have helped me greatly on this line. I do have Ada Mae born Jun 13, 1915 who married John David Gladden; they are both deceased buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Great Falls, SC. They had two daughters. On the 1880 Lancaster County Census I found William Thomas Self and his wife Mary living with his parents. Hosea Scott was born about 1811 in Lancaster/Kershaw area. He had a half brother named Timothy Stroud and supposedly an other half brother by the name of Hopkins. Upon their mother's death they were indentured to the Douglas' of Camden. This is the story as I was told, I have been unable to locate any proof. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

Cathy..................Have run across the Haile family through researching Croxton/Minter and Meshew in VA/NC and SC. I am under the opinion that the Hailes (possibly Hales) were from VA, and moved to the Halifax Co., NC, area circa 1770 time frame, finding a small gold mine in and around the Halifax/ Nash Co lines, which ended up in the hands of the Melton family. The Hailes, Croxtons and some Minters went on South, circa 1785. I think there were Twitty's in tghis same group. I will have to get my papers out, and see what I can verify. My GGGF Jesse Meshew (originally Micheaux or Michaux) married Elizabeth Croxton, daughter of Benjamin and Mary Minter Croxton. They left Lancaster Co., SC, circa 1808, and were in Western KY in 1810, having spent a summer or two in TN. They finally got to the far Western KY counties in or about 1825. Good luck in your searching. Ron Meshew, in Rocky Mount, NC.
