Collins, a private of Company H, 12th Regiment South Carolina Infantry, Confederate States Army, enlisted 17 June 1863 at Camp Lee, Virginia. Union prisoner of war records show that he was captured at Petersburg, Virginia, 2 April 1865, and imprisoned at Point Lookout, Maryland, where he was released 26 June 1865 upon taking the oath of allegiance to the United States. I have a Darcus Louise Castles, b. Mar 14, 1872 in Chester Co., SC. The parents of Darcus Luella "Lou" Castles were Willliam Henry Castles (descendant of Rev. War soldier) and Elizabeth Lovica Bennett. I don't know how they connect to Wiley Castles although they undoubtedly do. Might work farther back, but I don't have anything on this Leggett family other than the following: Elizabeth LEGGETT, b.c1770, NC, d. 1849 AL; married Nathaniel BIBBY by 1795. They lived in Lancaster Co SC until about 1830, when they started moving to GA & later to AL. Margaret LEGGETT (LIGGETT), b. c1770, NC, d. bef 1820, NC; married James P. BELK by 1795. They lived all thier lives in Mecklenburg (later Union) County, NC, where Margaret & James had at least 6 children. After her death, James married again at least once---and is said to have fathered 22 children in his long life of 110 years. I believe (for several reasons) that these two women are sisters, but haven't been able to find thier parents.
