    1. [SCLANCAS-L] Elias Stephens Father and Mother
    2. I am trying to find the parents for Elias Stephens b. 9/30/1801 S.C. d. 12/16/1865 Coweta County, Ga. who is believed to be from Lancaster county area or other nearby county in S.C. Elias married Barbara Rush? Stephens and moved to Coweta County Ga, around 1834-1835. at least two of his children were born in S.C. (Emaline Stephens and Marion Stephens around 1833-1834). Elias and Barbara and their children and Barbara's mother Mary show up in the 1850 and other Coweta County census' and are burried in this area. My uncle's research concluded that Elias' father was Joab from Lancaster and Joab's father was Moab from Lancaster (Moab and Joab are shown in S.C. census listings in 1810). However we have no definite source that shows these relationships ...mostly assumption from other research. Another family members research concluded that a James Stephens was Elias father and James was the brother of John Washington Stephens. Can anyone please help document the father and mother and brothers and sisters of Elias. Thanks!!! Ed Martin [email protected]

Lewis (Pegleg Luke)Faile (1840-1922) was visiting relatives in MS when the war broke out and he enlisted down there. 3. dear Bil, Hi. I am interested if you have found a James P. Small (b. @1830) on any of your lists. My grandmother said that he was a solider but I have not been able to find him anywhere. He is the son of Uriah Small son of John Small. We have been in contact before and I always appreciate your help. I told you I though my grandmother had a picture of some of the Small's but unfortunately I was wrong It is a picture of the Morgan side of our family. Are you related to the Morgan families from Lancaster/Kershaw area. There are some many people doing research on the Small family. Most of them have been from the Thomas Small. Thank you for everything. 3. Sorry, but Sherman's troops (came through Lancaster in February 1865) burned all the wills and equity court papers. The Ordinary (now Probate Judge) had piled these papers into wagons and was on his way to hide them at Haile Gold Mine when he was intercepted. It was a stupid decision because, although Federals attempted to burn the courthouse they did not succeed. The result is that Clerk of Court's papers, including all the land deeds, still survive. The only way Blair's 1826 will could have survived is if a second copy was handed down to his heirs. Louise Pettus

    3. My ggm, Mary Ann PHILLIPS Sutton, has been found on the 1860 Lancaster Co., S.C. census, age 28 and m.to my ggf Zachariah Sutton, with one child, Sarah Frances, age 5 months. Same information on the 1870 Lancaster Co., census, age 38, five children, Sarah Frances, age 10, Eliza Ann, age 8, George Franklin, age 6 (my gf), Lucy, age 3, and Sophronia Matilda, age 7 months. In the 1880 Kershaw Co., S.C. census, she is listed as a widow, age 46, with two children, George Franklin, age 16, and Sophronia Matilda, age 10. I do not have any confirmed information on Mary Ann PHILLIPS Sutton, prior to 1860, or after 1880. 3. I am hoping to find further information on the ancestry of my 3xg/g'mother, Lydia Jane BAKER, born 13 Aug 1836 and died 30 Sep 1884 in the Flat Creek area of Lancaster County. She married Andrew Jackson BAKER [6 Mar 1825 - 9 May 1896], of the same area. Whether or not these two BAKER lines were related before this is still unanswered. Lydia was a daughter of William BAKER [@[email protected]] and Clarissa [?]. William was a son of William H. BAKER [@[email protected]], also of the same area. Any/all help with this line would be greatly appreciated.
